The trauma of seeing the worst in people day after day takes it's toll
I was emotional after reading this book for a lot of reasons. Shots fired takes you into 12 personal stories of officer involved shootings. From the radio call, to the arrival on scene, the officer must constantly be ready to make the right decision. A wrong decision could cost them their job, or another person's life. This book takes a closer look into the officer's mental state after the shooting incident. The trauma of seeing the worst in people day after day takes it's toll. A big thank you to the men and women of law enforcement who put their lives on the line daily. Thank you, chuck, for another great read. I look forward to your next book.

READ IT YOU’LL CRY
Sad book but definitely gives you the reality of what police have to go through. Some are really bad and some don’t get effected that much! EASY READ! GOOD STORY TELLING! Short and simple! READ IT!

Therapeutic healing can help
My son in law is a deputy sheriff and was recently involved in an OIS. His sergeant was shot three times by the suspect and survived. My son in law shot the suspect, but unfortunately he survived his wounds. Fortunately his department has programs in place to provide the officers and their families with counseling and therapy if needed. I wanted to read this book to gain more knowledge on how OIS investigations were handled and what emotional support was provided to the officers involved. This book was very helpful to provide me that information. I recommend anyone in law enforcement, paramedics, fire departments, judicial capacities read this book.

This book is a huge eye-opener. It actually inspired my topic for my psychology class I am taking right now. There will be quotes from the book. It's definitely difficult to see what our officers go through after a shooting on top of all of the media hate. This book gave me chills and my heart went out to all of the officers who went through these situations. I had to hold back from crying sometimes because I was reading it out in public. I recommend this book to everyone. Especially those looking to join a police force and those who are anti-cop because of what they see on Facebook.

Short and Sweet
"Shots Fired" is a quick, gut wrenching, read with no bias or BS, just the words and paraphrased thoughts of officers who face an impossible situation. Each story is unique in it's own right, but also provides good insight on the commonalities between these events. This is a great read for cops, military personnel, and civilians alike, who are interested in learning about, and dealing with, traumatic events such as these.
