Extruder extraordinar!
Had my doubts that this would function as stated, but it does. Frozen fruit comes out like soft serve. Can’t beat the price for the value.

Not really ice cream
The media could not be loaded. This Kitchen Aid stand mixer attachment doesn't really make ice cream. It's more like sorbet but even that isn't accurate. A more accurate description would be crushed frozen fruit. It basically does what a masticating juicer does but with frozen fruit and there is no "waste" fruit.I imagine there is a way to sweeten it and maybe make some kind of frozen yogurt by freezing yogurt, fruit and some sweetener together, but that seems like a lot of work. The easiest thing is to take a bag of frozen strawberries and grind them in the chute and eat it plain. It tastes quite refreshing and good and with berries alone, it's a relatively low sugar treat. You could add other fruit like bananas or pineapple. The fruit dessert isn't totally smooth. It still has some small pieces of berries. I think you could basically do the same thing in a blender with the addition of some liquid or ice. This does come out in a stream a bit like soft serve though I don't think it's that easy to fill a cup or cone in the same way you can with ice cream, perhaps with lot of practice.Overall, I haven't decided if this is more effort than it's worth since you don't get actual ice cream and if you have a high speed blender like a Vitamix, you can do the same thing only maybe better since the finished product will be smoother and mixed better (for adding yogurt or other fruits). It was fun to try though and the quality of the device seems relatively good .
