Reasonably priced
We purchased a "new" chair from a bin store and when we opened the box the cylinder was missing so I ordered this one to give it a try. It fit the chair fine, although it is a little bit tall even in the lowest position, but it still fits under the desk so it is fine. It functions as it should, and came with the cylinder removal tool so in the future when we have chairs that break or the leather or fabric goes bad, we can at least salvage the cylinder for another chair that has a cylinder failure (I have thrown out 2 chairs in the past due to that, before realizing you could just get a replacement). Even with buying this cylinder separately along with the price paid for the chair at the bin store it was still cheaper than the chair sells for normally, so we're still $65 ahead.

Solid product, gloves are nice addition to kit
I have only had this for a week so can't comment on longevity, but the cylinder has been great so far.Due to a filing cabinet next to my standing desk, I could not lower the desk far enough to be comfortable using it while sitting in my office chair. If I can;t lower the desk, then I will have to raise my butt. The piston that came with the office chair did not go up high enough so I searched for a replacement that was like Goldilocks's porridge - not too low, not too high. The low is a little bit higher than the original which allows me to still have my feet flat on the ground in that position. The final spot is about 75% raised which works perfectly for my setup and I can put my feet on the cross support of my desk. Eventually I may get one of the foot rest rings to install on the chair but for now I don't think I will need it.The cylinder comes with grippy gloves, which keep your hands clean of lube and allow you a good hold when trying to pull out the original cylinder. They weren't enough for my job as the original was held in place very well. I picked up a channel lock wrench at HD and that gave me the grip and leverage to remove the cylinder. The new one slipped right in. Easy install of the new.I'm not really sure what the rings are for that came with the set so I didn't install them. Maybe to keep the cylinder from pushing too far into the seat bottom? No idea.Overall, 10/10. Would buy again.

Fits My Drive Chair OK
Fits my Steelcase Drive chair well, functions smoothly as expected. The "removal tool" didn't help me but I got the old cylinder out with a very long pipe wrench and someone to hold the base while I yarded on it.

Good product, but sized differently than Sealy OEM cylinders - useful tool included.
Bought to replace cylinder on a Sealy Hensley Big & Tall office chair. This is not the right one. The seat is 2-inches higher than the OEM part. The included tool to separate the cylinder from the seat was INVALUABLE. (The first one I removed using a pipe wrench left metal shards on my office floor, that have been found in multiple peoples feet. - Use the tool.)Hensley cylinder: Lower: 2.0in x 7.3in; LOA MIN: 9.8in; MAX: 12.5inThis product was: Lower: 2.0in x 7.8in; LOA MIN: 9.7in ; MAX: 13.6inIt should have worked, but in retrospect, the OEM lower included an additional 2-inches that protruded through the base. The net result is that this product sits 2-inches higher than the OEM version. I'm 6ft-2in, and my feet will barely set flat on the floor with the seat in the lowest position.

Replacement works, extraction tool lacking
The collar for the extraction tool would move on the shaft no matter how hard I tightened it down, so I wound up having to cut blocks of wood to keep the collar in place, and then it worked fine.My original strut was also rather short, so I had to cut down the allen wrench to fit onto the bolts.New strut went right in and works great.

Sitting Pretty
Just installed the new cylinder on my comfy office chair this afternoon and I am now sitting pretty. No more shrinking down to the floor every time I get up for something and sit back down. The new cylinder is a perfect fit and was easy to install. Getting the old cylinder off is another story, but that's to be expected no matter what. The point is, buying this new cylinder was a no brainer. It came with every thing you need, a clear set of instructions, and all at a very reasonable price.

Money Saver! Had to do some work to get it on.
I brought this awhile back and followed the instructions for removing the old cylinder from the chair. I wasn't able to remove the shaft from the chair because I didn't have enough space, so I used a pipe wrench and twisted until it finally broke loose. I then proceeded to attempting to remove the cylinder from the bottom. To my surprise my cylinder was molded to the bottom base so no amount of hammering or 'persuading' was going to get if off. At that point I thought I was going to have to return the cylinder and purchase a whole base replacement or new chair. After sleeping on it, I realized the problem with my sinking chair wasn't the cylinder housing, but the shaft. So, I removed the clip and washer from the bottom of the old cylinder and slide the shaft out, then did the same for the new cylinder. I then slide the new shaft into the old housed, put on the washer and clip. Note: I had to use the old washer, because the new one was too thick. Works perfectly now.I know this isn't what the company recommends, but its better than reimbursing me.

Helpful instructions to remove existing cylinder
Works great and the included kit to remove the old cylinder was helpful. I ended up cutting the old cylinder off with a sawzall to use an impact driver to remove the old cylinder from the chair frame, but it would have been difficult to remove otherwise.
