Very good!
I bought a bottle of batch 7 over couple of years ago and I've been taking my time with this one as its taken me last 7 months to finish it! Its a NAS malt but unchillfiltered so all the nuances were present from the distilliary style and cask maturation. Initially came across very fiery, young, sweet, malty, oak and vanilla forward. As I past the neck pour and given some time it opens up a little and you get even more malty, rounder and sweeter drink. However I still had to add a drop of water every time to calm it down a little for my liking. Had the last dram last night with a cube of ice and just realised how good and competent this malt is! Allot of people commenting on batch variations which I fortunately havnt experianced yet but dont intend to buy another bottle soon. That said its a far better offering than the standard 12 year old however at 40 odd pounds a bottle there are far out there. Very good to try but maybe not one for the repeat order!

One of my favorites but very batch dependent
I've had 3 bottles of this and it was included as part of a tasting session I had at the distillery as well. I had Batch 2 and it was incredibly underwhelming. I had Batch 6 at the distillery and it was one of the most delightful sherry/american oak matured drams I've had. It was night and day. I bought a bottle of Batch 6 when I returned home and again it was beautiful. I then bought another Batch 6 and it had that incredible taste again initially on each sip but that taste faded much faster and was replaced with a slight harshness that wasn't as pleasant as the previous bottle.I'm not sure why there has been such a difference in the taste of this but when you get a good bottle it's heavenly. Get a not so good bottle and you're left disappointed that it doesn't quite hit the same spot.Would I buy again? 100% I will, but I think some quality control is needed or some work on consistency. £45 is the most I'd pay for it though.******* A quick Edit. I bought another bottle and I couldn't even taste the sherry this time around. Very odd and disappointing. I can understand why some people have reviewed this as disappointing. If Aberlour nail the flavour consistently they are on to a winner, but at the moment I've had 4 bottles and only 1 hit the spot, along with the distillery tasting session. I will only buy this from the distillery from now on. Would have been a regular purchase for me even at £45, but it'll now be down to 1 per year when I'm back in Scotland on the lead up to Christmas.

A lovely Speyside dram
Having first tasted this on a visit to Aberlour whilst fishing The Spey I thought I had maybe been caught up in the ambiance of the moment. On my return I decided to invest in a bottle. I loved the sherry cask finish and the deep fruity notes. Suffice to say I enjoyed so much I just purchased another two bottles whilst on offer at £38.50 a go, brilliant deal in my eyes. One I kept and gifted the other to a very happy pal for his 50th.I can’t recommend this offering enough if you enjoy your dram with a little sherry sweetness.

Smooth Malt Whisky
All you would want in a premium malt whisky. Lovely aroma of vanilla and honey. A little water and the real flavour of the whisky comes out. A real gem
