Dreo Demineralization Cartridge 3-Pack for Humidifiers, Compatible with Dreo Humidifiers HM311/311S/524/524S, Prevent Mineral Build-up, Filter Hard Water, Eliminate White Dust

These filters work well for me. The silver ions reduce, to a large extent, the pink funk that grows in the unit, which is my primary concern. But, no…they do NOT take all of the minerals or TDS (total dissolved solids) out of the water. They are not designed for that. For example, they cannot take arsenic, which will result in “white dust” falling everywhere. Most water supplies are high in arsenic. Only reverse osmosis, or using distilled water will take all of the TDS out of the water. It is sad that the seller says it will eliminate the white dust, because that’s impossible with such a set up. These filters will remove calcium and magnesium, only. They work as designed, but not beyond that.The alternative is to use an evaporative humidifier, in which case all TDS will remain in the filter of the unit, which has to be changed periodically. For now, I’ll stick with they Dreo system.

So how do you know if this demineralization cartridge works? I suppose if you don’t see a lot of white powder or other unacceptable things in the Dreo tank it’s working.I honestly don’t know if is does anything for me since I use only distilled water. No matter, I don’t want to breathe in anything that shouldn’t be in the tank.I purchased two packages of three each so I’ll replace them when the humidifier signals a change is needed. I figure it’s some protection for your furniture as well as what you breathe, so I’ll continue to use them.

Really help to filtering the bad small and mineral from top water.

Right on the cartridge box are the words, "Prevents white dust formation."The cartridge did not work as promised. I could tell because my reading glasses were about 4 feet away from the humidifier and I had to wipe the very fine white dust off the lenses about twice a day. Really disappointing. I also won't buy another DREO humidifier because it does not work by evaporation. Whatever is in the water you put in the DREO tank gets into the air--minerals, chemicals, everything. And since I needed to run a humidifier continuously during the winter heating months, I could not afford to put distilled water into it, either.

We have two humidifiers, and VERY hard water. These do a great job keeping the minerals from clogging the humidifier. We're happy with them.

Helped with white dust from humidifier. Didn't completely eliminate it, but was much better than without it.
