Marantz SR7009... YES!!!
I just replaced my Onkyo txnr509 from 5 years ago. The HDMI board fried (not worth fixing). I listen to a lot of vinyl on a VPI scoutmaster ll AMERICAN made turntable. It was important to find an excellent A/V receiver that will match with my 3 channel Anthem MC30 amplifier as well.My quest landed me after a very long search to the Denon 5200 and the Marantz 7009. I think the Marantz is made a bit better even thou they are both the same Co. I finally bit the bullet and purchased the 7009 and I am very pleased. It sounds sweet , open and precise as well as an excellent balance of warmth and brightness with my B&W 804 main speakers. Setup was a breeze with the on screen tutorial ( using the 7.1.2 setup). I also purchased a pr. of the Onkyo Atmos ceiling firing speakers. thru Amazon and will probably get another set for the rear as Im not hearing the full benefitof Dolby's new addition. The unit is built well with all the bells and whistles you could ever want or need. Well worth the extra money if you're looking in this range of this grade of audiophile equipment.

really good. That said
The receiver sounds really, really good. That said, it has some massive bugs in the firmware department. In my case I can't get the Atmos update to download at all, and my volume overlay refuses to display on 4 of my input channels no matter what I do (But does show up on my Apple TV for some reason). I have tried working with Marantz to correct the issue and they have been less than helpful and have stopped responding to me on 4 different chat sessions.Their only suggestion is I send the hardware into them for up to 6-8 weeks to be "serviced". Never mind this means my entire home theater system would not work for that length of time. That is the sort of customer service I expect for a 200 dollar HTIB, not a receiver I paid over 2,000 dollars for.Their customer service is glib and dismissive of issues. I would absolutely steer clear of Marantz. The core of the product (sound) is fantastic. Every other bit of this (firmware, overlay, updates, etc) feels like buggy crap that we all stopped putting up with in the 90s.

Lasted 18 months
I've owned this product for only about 18 months and it no longer works at all. It turns on and immediately turns back off. I purchased the Marantz product thinking it would last for years but now I'm in the market for a replacement. It did ok running Bose speakers throughout my home. I ran my TV and Blueray players through the system wo many issues but now I'm shut down until I can have it replaced.

connection and setup were relatively easy. I now have just 2 wires connected to ...
Well I just bought one of these to replace a Marantz SR19ex that stopped working. Found a refurbished unit from the Amazon Mkt Place for 1400. Basic features are 11.2 HT processing, and 9 channels of power at 125wpc. Audissey XT32 room correction. 2 additional zones that can be powered from the amp. Full network connectivity, including on board Bluetooth and WiFi, in addtion to ethernet. There is an asynchronus USB input on the front that will accept up to 24/192 streams, while network and on board digital connections will accept up to DSD streams.Out of the box, connection and setup were relatively easy. I now have just 2 wires connected to my Pany Plasma- HDMI video and a power cord, instead of the rats nest I had before. Score 1 for WAF ! I initially entered auto setup mode, but there was a problem when accessing network connections. I switched to manual mode and quickly connected to my network, then proceeded to setup and assign inputs. I tested each connected component- all work as they should. All video is now routed through the 7009, rather than direct to the Pany. Video quality is unchanged (as expected and meaning that video switching through the Marantz does not degrade the images). I jumped into network streaming rather than explore the video side. My previous streaming solution was a Squeezebox 3, using the digital out connected via coax to the DAC in the SR19ex. Streamed audio quality through the 7009 is outstanding and much better than what I have previously experienced. I hear nuance, subtly and frequency extremes from 320bit web streams and sublime reproduction of Redbook or higher rates. Heck it even improves the quality of lower bit rate streams. My ROKU3 is connected via HDMI to the 7009, and again audio quality is greatly improved, while video quality is unchanged.I downloaded the appropriate app to my iPad. The interface is simple but easy to navigate for basic selections, with source, station favorites, zones and volume control all available from the app. However advanced menus and choices are best accessed from the remote and onscreen menus. As mentioned there is an asynchronus USB port on the front of the unit, but hidden by a drop down cover. The port will accept a portable device and a USB drive. Connected drives should first be formatted to FAT32 before filled with files and connected to the jack. It is stated in the manual and in the specifications that one can connect a USB HD to this jack. It would be easy to connect a portable drive containing. several thousand songs- BUT then you have a permanent wire sticking out of the front of the receiver ruining the sleek look of the face with the drop down panel closed. Why didn't Marantz put a USB jack on the back ?I will explore and set up HT audio processing when I have more time to devote to the task.We will renovate and move into a larger home later this year. My plan is to build a 5.1 HT in the den, and use the additional amplifier channels to power zones 2-3 for the outside deck, and kitchen/dining room. My wife is looking forward to using the multi zones. Now I need to look for new speakers. At the very least, this receiver meets my needs, for now.....

Great upgrade.
Great receiver, been wanting a upgrade for awhile. Better than I could of imagined. If your looking a new receiver and you have a few penny's saved up, buy this one or one like it. You won't be disappointed.

Flaky, intermittent perfomance.
This reciever has never worked correctly from day 1. I have call Marantz several times, and even sent the unit back to the "Factory Authorized" service center for repair, but it was returned in the same, flaky condition it was new. The USB connection on the front will not recognize any source (iPod, USB Drive, Thumb Drive, etc) and if by some means of turning the unit on and off several times, you get it to finally recognize a source, it remains there long after you have removed it! The Audessy setup does not work, claiming I have a speaker unit "Out of Phase" which is not true, The remote is difficult to read and operate. The outputs to the speaker often do not come on at all, you must either turn it off and back on several times, or reset the entire system to factory defaults. Lately I just leave it on 24/7. This product is highly NOT recommended.
