This bed is unsafe and should not be sold on Amazon (see photos and video)
The media could not be loaded. I wish I could upload more than one video to this review because I took several while in the process of dismantling this bed. But I think of all the ones I took this video shows you the biggest issue with the construction.I ordered this bed for my 115 pound child, who falls within the recommended weight limit. It seemed a little flimsy while I was assembling it but I figured trust the process, once all of the pieces were together it would create a solid piece of furniture. I was very, very wrong.A couple of months into using the bed I went into my child's room to wake them for school and I noticed that when they shifted around in the bed to tell me to go away and let them sleep, the weight-bearing support for the bed bowed out a bit. I went over and gave it a little push and it bowed out even further. When I disassembled the bed, I saw that the only thing holding the bed up was a 1/2 inch dowel wedged between the pieces of wood, which you can see in the pictures had snapped in half. That is the joint that is wobbling in the video I posted. The supports on the other side snapped in half while I was disassembling the bed (by simply unscrewing the bolts and allowing the wood to flex - not like I took a sledgehammer to it).I reached out to the seller and told them about the safety issue with this bed, which appeared to be in imminent danger of collapsing, they told me I needed to contact Amazon since the time to return the bed had passed. When I reached out to Amazon, they told me I needed to work things out with the Seller. When I told Amazon the Seller told me to contact them, Amazon said they would look into it and get back to me. We did this dance for a few days and I got nowhere.I did a chargeback with my credit card, which was ultimately unsuccessful. In the end I bought a disposable piece of furniture that was so unsafe that after three months of using it I took it apart and replaced it. If you know me, you know how much I hate wasting money and it pained me to admit that I'd made such a lousy purchase. For a cheap bed, this bed isn't so cheap once you add on the shipping costs. The fact that sellers can sell defective, dangerously engineered products on Amazon with zero recourse terrifies me. If you have already purchased this bed I urge you to stop using it. If you haven't but are considering it, please don't. You can buy much safer beds than this for around the same money at your local furniture store and bonus, they'll deliver and assemble it for you.I'm so glad I realized that this bed was about to collapse before my child was injured by it.

There are a lot of parts
Solo-assembly took around 6 1/2 hours. Power tools were used to screw things together and that helped save time. There are a lot of parts to this bed. It was difficult to see where the shelf stoppers go on the staircase and the screws were too short to attach them properly - but that was the only part that gave me problems.I got help lifting the mattress up at the end.Our kid loves her bed and sleeps through the night comfortably. She loves all the shelving and sorts her books and stuffed animals on them. The drawers could benefit from being a little deeper - they are half the height of the facing panel.Making the bed with the fitted sheet is slightly challenging as the mattress fits snug into the safety rails. It can be done with some lifting and tucking. For a cover, we use a duvet and don't tuck that. This makes daily bed making easy, just straighten the duvet.

Sturdy and looks nice!
This bed took about 4.5 hours to build, but after all pieces were clearly laid out, instructions were clear and easy to follow. It is sturdy and feels like it will last. Only things I don’t like, I wish the steps were a bit wider and I wish the bolts had grey stickers to hide them after the project was finished.

Product did not come with directions.
NO INSTRUCTIONS INCLKUDED. Took 5 days to put together. 1 week in the steps are already cracking due to poor design. Weight limit was 250 but the steps are not designed to handle my 145lb son.
