Fun travel size
This is Great for travel. Wife and I used it on a recent trip overseas. The magnets in the bottom of the pieces help keep everything in place.

A great board for traveling
This is a great chess board if you travel as it is very small, lightweight and portable. Each piece of the board is magnetic so it is easy to use while in the car, plane or train. The pieces are made of plastic and they well resemble full size chess pieces. One thing you need to be careful, as other mentioned, is that the magnet might come of, and if so, you just need some super glue to put it back, but, overall not a big problem.

Perfect mini chess set
“My 11-year-old daughter bought this chess set because she wanted something small, and boy, did she get it. It’s so tiny it could probably pass for an American girl doll game night centerpiece. It isn’t quite small enough to fit in her pants pocket—but it does snugly tuck into the front pocket of a hoodie, which is where all important things belong anyway. The set has been a lifesaver on long plane rides, though I did knock off a star because some of the magnets popped off, and I had to break out the super glue. Nothing says ‘quality bonding time’ like a high-stakes scavenger hunt for microscopic chess magnets in the carpet. Also, if you’ve got small kids or pets, heads up: these magnets are bite-sized in the worst way. Overall, a fun, portable chess set—but make sure your dog doesn’t mistake the bishop for a snack!”

Nice Little Travel Set
First move: "Super glue to knight on B8."Second move: "Super glue to knight on G8."Hopefully your set won't have loose magnets. Mine came with two magnets dislodged from their pieces. Easy fix.The super small set is really cool. And the magnetic board and pieces make it ideal for playing on the go or in any situation in which you might need to move the board around. No instructions so... to set up the board, look for instructions online or look at my pics. The manufacturer pics show an incorrect setup with the queens misplaced and the pieces setup on the wrong sides of the board. Remember the phrase, " queen on her color." Meaning white queen starts on a white square (D1) and the black (or gold, in this case) queen starts on a black square (D8). And white starts on the first two ranks (1 and 2) and black (gold) starts on the last two ranks (7 and 8). You'd think a chess board manufacturer and / or seller would know how to play the game, but clearly this is not the case here.Tiny chess pieces can sometimes be difficult to differentiate from one another. That's not the case with these pieces. Each piece is easily identifiable and distinguishable from the others. The piece design is classic, just on a tiny scale.Overall this is an excellent travel chess set that I would recommend to anyone interested in the game.

Designed well - but it is small
If you have thick fingers this will not work well for you. This set is mini. Tightly grouped pieces would be a problem for large fingers. The squares are about half an inch. The king is one and three-eighths inch. Pawns are seven-eighths of an inch. Smaller hands can manage a game on this board which is five inches by five inches. The board seems durable, light and easily packable. When folded the board is five inches long, two and one-half inches wide and seven-eighths of an inch deep. The chess pieces are easily recognizable. Each has a magnet in the base which allows it to stay in place on the board. The magnets are not overly strong which I believe to be a good thing and are placed well to where the chess pieces (which are plastic) are not attracted and sticking together. As for the board, it is not magnetic so that is not an issue. The actual playing area must be a thin sheet of light weight metal. The overall case is plastic. A little care is needed when packing the chessmen away. They are stored inside the folded board which creates a case. Unless the chess pieces are lying flat (or flat enough) you cannot close the case. I would not force it closed or you might break someone inside. Nor would I give this to a child who is too young or careless. The pieces are easily scattered and lost.

Good Travel Set
This is a very convenient travel chess set. It is small enough to fold down about the size of a smartphone (though thicker) and slip into a pocket. It has enough space to hold all the pieces inside. I would recommend saving the small ziplock bags that the pieces come in for later use keeping everything from spilling out whenever you open the board to play. The board unfolds with a bit of pressure and snaps closed pretty securely. The magnets are enough to keep the pieces gently in place on the board, though they will shift with a little nudge. Basically the right amount of magnetism you want for a board this tiny, just to keep everything in place during a little turbulence and not so strong you have to yank at the pieces to get them to move.Have had some fun with this already, working on teaching the kiddos how the pieces move and the basics of the game. Easy to bring along basically anywhere - restaurant, car trip, plane ride, etc. - slips into a purse, pocket, backpack very easily! Enjoying this a lot!I do note though that within a few days of play one of the magnets fell out of one of the pieces and the magnet was lost. Some of the magnets are not fully in the pieces it looks like, which would cause problems if they are falling out. Going to try to shove them into place.
