Q: I have one question about the directions for this product, I can't understand why they say to put 2 qts ice in the bag too.

The best way I found to this is as follows. Heat the brine the night before, cover pot and let set on stove top. This allows the herbs to leach over night in the hot brine. Next day add cooled brine and mentioned ice.
