These came recommended by James Gurney for Casein Use, and I second the motion!
Casein can be rough on brushes, but these hold up to the paint both in stiffness and in cleaning. I prefer the short handles, and although I haven't used these painting plein air yet (just in studio), I can tell that they will be ideal for travel. So far, the bristles have held up well. They have a nice case with a toggle cord to adjust it to standing as desired and a magnetic closure.

Great product
Great product for acrylic, gouache, casein, and some watercolor painting g techniques. Well made, superior design so you don't need those metal protective sleeves. I use these nearly every day and love them! Very good value for the money.

So much better than I expected
These are excellent brushes for the price. I bought them to substitute for my expensive brushes that I forget to bring with me while traveling. I'm used to spending this for a single brush and was surprised that they work so well with acrylic paints. Very smooth and pleasant paint application and they retain their shape well. So far no shedding and they seem sturdy. I just wish there were a few more of the smaller sizes in the pack, but there's a broad range that will likely serve me well. I'm going to look into additional brushes from this line and save my most expensive brushes for watercolors.

If James Gurney uses them, Good enough for me!
I came upon this brush set in one of talented Mr. James Gurney video’s. He was painting a old neon sign in his of the many traveling sketchbook he has with him. I am glad that I purchase them. They’re excellent for travel, great for someone on a budget, and with above average quality of the synthetic brush hair, a win for me!

Good Enough, Could Be Better
First off, the brushes in the set are all 5 1/2 inches long from end of the brush to the tip of the bristles. I have small hands and I paint close-up to the paper, so this length is a bonus for me, but some might find it too constricting. Second, the set is made in India. These are both questions I had when I first looked at the set, but couldn't find the answers to, so I hope this helps someone else. The brushes themselves are of decent, mid-grade quality. They do not appear to shed, but I have only tested them once. They hold and/or soak up a usable amount of water, although not nearly as much as my Kolinsky brushes, of course. The case is a simple design that becomes a standing holder when you flip the cover backwards and tighten the cord at the base of the brush holder side. On my set, the hole where the cord runs was too small, and I had to make it a bit larger before I could draw the cord tight enough to hold the stand up. Also on my set, the case and brushes came with a powerful chemical reek that initially made me toss it right back into the package with the intent to return the set. However, after sitting overnight an open window sill, the smell has diminished enough to change my mind. Finally, the paint on the handles had some scratches and smearing at the ends. It looks as if the brushes may have been pushed into the cases before the paint on the handles was quite dry. So, three stars for function and design, two stars off for quality and execution.

Excellent for traveling
This a good quality set.The brushes are good synthetic quality with a nice range of sizes. The rounds hold a fine tip. The handles are long enough to be comfortable to hold yet small enough to travel. The holster is rigid and it closes with a convenient magnetic button. These are my go to choice when I need portability.
