Wow! Such an unputdownable book
The media could not be loaded. This is the first 300+ page book that I finished in 4 days. An absolute unputdownable book. It keeps you glued to its pages. Beautifully written, easy-to-understand. I learnt plenty of new things about Palestine, Nakba and ongoing oppression that has made everyone's life difficult. I feel sorry for the people, who can't grow under oppression. Liberation is crucial for a country as it changes everything around you, including your behaviour towards yourself and towards the other people too. Oppression changes the mindset of people like Fareeda, Yaqub, Adam and Khaled yet there are millions of people like Sarah and Isra, who wish for nothing but freedom, freedom to make their own choice. This book shattered my heart into thousand pieces. I pray for a free-Palestine. InshaAllah

A moving read
I liked the story and characters overall. Stereotypes exist for a reason. The book was fast paced and at times I couldn’t put it down

Ohh i am in love
What a read. It made me hope and long and smile and sob along with the characters. I could put myself in the shoes of each of the 3 generations of palestinian women, their experiences of different kinds of horrors of life. It was my first ever read about palestinian women and the stories that the women of third world have to offer need to be told. Empowerment begins here. And etaf rum has stolen my heart with her work. I cannot wait to read het second book.

A must read for mature readers as it broke me yet gave me hope
I am sad and happier 🤧 ***2022 favourite***Celebration of women authors a recommendation 💫☑️A story of three generations☑️A Palestinian background plot☑️Themes focused on the restrictions, violence/assault, discrimination towards women☑️Amazing writing which brings up the possible reasons behind all these topics (including immense pressure on sons specifically on the first borns, arrange marriages, culture and traditions)I find the characters outstanding and well etched out. You cannot know how the book would end with all the stories of these three main women being told the way it is. However, the ending gave me hope on it could’ve been that way and would make things better in the minds of those listening to this story.A must read recommendation.

Average
It's well written. And the facts are mentioned about the life in Palestine or any other war effected countries. There were similar books published earlier with the same story line...so nothing new.

Overwhelming story
It was one of the infuriating yet captivating story, I could feel the pain characters were going through, and the words conveyed it very well, I lent this book to my friend and she could not stop but relate it to herself...... definitely a good read

Heart-rending...
Having read A Thousand Splendid Suns, this book caught my eyes. The book is surfaced well initially and it's an absolute page turner. However, the ending is a bit abrupt and jolts you out of the fantasy in the end, quite suddenly.

The best book I've ever read.
I'm not much of a reader but ever since I picked up this book i just couldn't put it down. The storytelling is so simple yet so beautiful. Etaf makes you cry for these characters. I haven't even finished it but it's definitely one of my favourite books despite however it ends

Wonderful novel
This is a powerful, well/written novel. I learned so much and feel lucky I have my husband. It helped me understand what women in and from other countries go through. It will stay with me forever.

Beautiful written
Es simplemente hermoso. Ame la forma que describe la historia de Deya, Isra, Sarah y Fareeda. He llorado mucho tratando de entender que aun hay mujeres viviendo injustamente esto en estos e momentos.

A Moving and Emotional Book
What an emotional and educational read. I felt I learned so much about the lives of the women in the story and the battle the younger generation had to find their voice. Such a moving novel that will stay with me for a very long time, as will the characters Isra, Sarah, Deya and Farreda.

Oh my goodness!
I purchased this book over a year ago but never had the time to finish it. I started reading it at 8:30pm last night and I finished it at 8am this morning. Yes, I could not put this book down. It was riveting, inspirational, mind-blowing, etc. It hit all the spots! This is an amazing book and it is also an encouragement to women to not be silent. IT can encourage you in your beliefs about the need for advancing women's interests because frankly, the advancement of women benefits EVERYONE!I was not paid to review this book but thought it was worth reviewing (I don't review things on Amazon. Maybe this will be the beginning, lol). Get this book. Worth the read. I hope women will find strength in each other and lift each other up instead of participating in the destruction of of each other.MY ONLY WISH is that this book was longer and the relationship of certain characters were explored more. However, it was not worth taking any star off because this book was good in and of itself. Beautiful!
