Every man eventually gets to a point where he is tired of being a walking billboard for a favorite beverage or a favorite failed sports team. He eventually realizes that there is truth in the old saying that “the clothes make the man.” While it is comfortable to go about in gym clothes, doors open when one makes a modest effort to dress up. I have taken to wearing ascots as an alternative to wearing ties. They are distinctive and comfortable to wear. Frequently I’ve received compliments about how nice they look. It isn’t rocket science, but I have discovered that if one looks like a gentleman and acts like one, then a person is treated like one.Ascots are distinctive because they are an old fashion men’s accessory. They are a specialty item, and as such can be expensive. The Hisdern ascots that I have are nicely made, quality pieces at a reasonable price. It is possible to look distinctively well dressed at a reasonable price.The second photo shows how the ascot dresses up even a sweatshirt!As a general rule I have found that a patterned ascot goes well with a plain shirt as in the photo above. A paisley pattern can be worn with a striped shirt.There are other ways to wear ascots, but I generally tie them in a four in hand knot. I bought the ascot ties for my nephew’s BD. Their quality was as good as they showed in the photos on line. He loved them very much.

A cravat/ascot is definitely no longer standard wear. That's exactly why I opted for one! This thing fits neatly and looks daring paired with a regular jacket; easy enough to tie, fairly sturdy. As pretty as advertised.Four stars for a few loose threads on the included pocket square, but honestly, it's worth the money.

Great design, good thick fabric, high energy and super cool! I wear this with a multi-coloured houndstooth shirt from Tip Top, and it looks amazing! So much I went out and bought the tie in the same fabric! So I have both the tie and the ascot. They look great; the energy is upbeat and still sophisticated, people respond well to both, they smile when they see the outfit, and that's awesome, especially these days, we can all use more smiles. I am very pleased!
