On Confidence (Essay Books)

Straight to the point
Like all school of life teachings I've encountered, this is very straight to the point and a great example of confidence in itself. It guides you through some of the issues that hinder confidence, traces back possible causes for it, and offers simple solutions.I believe it's and invitation to work on our thoughts and beliefs so we can change it behaviors and just be happier and me authentic. It's a short and easy read (though some of the things are hard to face), fun and entertaining. If you give it a chance you can get a lot out of it.

Nice refresher, or intro
This is a nice, concise review of the things that contribute to confidence, and things that may contribute to a lack of confidence. It will be nice to reread when times are tough.

If you are looking for a self-help book, this is not it. This is an eye-opener.
This is an incredible book.Short, beautiful, right to the point. The only thing that I believe they did not work so well in was the last chapter "confidence on confidence".This is not a self-help book but an eye-opener to the realities of ourselves!! It is a beautiful journey that ends too soon. This book will change many lives and I know that at least at the moment, it is changing mine.

Succinct and on point
It’s a short book but it addresses all my questions. It’s magical that I’m reading this book the right time where I need it. Putting philosophy into practice.

Anything from The School of Life is worth the time.
I found The School of Life's YouTube channel and I have learned so much about myself and the world at large through their lessons and books. This book 'On Confodence' covers the topic of confidence thoroughly and gives great analogies that make the points easy to understand. The writing is succinct yet gently leads you to think about confidence in a new way. Thank you so much for what you are doing, School of Life. You are helping so many!

Theory on confidence
Not what I've expected but nonetheless interesting read on what is behind our confidence or underconfidence. '' confidence is about translating theory into practice ''

Nice, short journey, but nothing very special
The book consists of a series of short essays focusing on topics related to confidence. Their quality and level of reasonableness differ, but what they have in common is poetic language and presentation in general, full of metaphors and references to art.Given the length of the book, which can be easily read in about 1,5 hours, it is not a deep study, but rather a bunch of gentle reminders. About death, about that we are not supposed to please everyone, about how everybody has flaws, etc. Of course, there are some interpretations, of why we feel in a specific way, and how can we change that, but they clearly cannot be exhaustive. However, given problems with confidence, simply observing them and their causes is rarely the final solution to the problem. Therefore, what the book can do at its best is to provide some inspiration to work with ourselves, and the poetic exposition seems to be a way to provide such inspiration.Overall, the style in general, i.e., sophisticated vocabulary and illustrative descriptions, resonates with me. Sometimes I found a language used to be a little pretentious but in the acceptability range. The actual points of the book are a different story.I hope that recurrent references to childhood are metaphors, rather than final explanations of the source of our problems. I am sceptic about some suggestions, such as that we need constant reminders about our idiocy and death, as suggested in chapters II and VII, respectively. I also feel like the whole of chapter VIII is more the presentation of the frustrations of the author rather than the actual essay. Some messages I find to be useful, for instance, to listen carefully to yourself, to study the source of our problems, etc. Sometimes I felt a little sensitive about what I was reading, and sometimes I nodded in agreement. I cannot say that I learned much, but ultimately, the book fulfils its purpose of being a collection of reminders about life.It was a nice, short journey, but nothing very special.

Intersting and short book
This book is great for people who enjoy TSOL. Content is basically a consolidation of some of the videos and articles in one book. However, it serves as a great reminder for some of the concepts and goes a bit more in-depth in some cases. It's also a surprisingly short read. I was able to finish the book in a few hours. Overall, great book.
