This thermometer has been an excellent purchase. It is very easy to use, fast and accurate. I like that it has a large and clear screen, ideal for reading the temperature even in low light. In addition, it gives results in seconds, which is perfect for use with children (don't have to wait too long!).

Very up to standardPerfect for nursing practice

Purchased four thermometers at the same time: a Medline and a Vicks Speed Read (both digital), and these two glass thermometers, filled with Gallium. In clinical testing, Gallium thermometers have been quite accurate, so I had high hopes.Sitting at my desk, feeling perfectly fine with no hint of a fever, I tested the Medline and the Vicks, averaging three readings each. The Medline averaged to about 98.0 F and the Vicks to about 98.4 F.Having researched Gallium thermometers, I knew that shaking them down by hand (as you would a mercury thermometer) would be inadequate, so I used the "sock trick" placing each thermometer in a sock and whipping that sock around like you would a lasso. That worked just fine, returning the Gallium reading to it's proper place.As per clinical recommendations, I kept each thermometer in my mouth for five minutes, and averaged their readings, shaking them down (by sock) each time.The first thermometer averaged 101 F and the second averaged 106 F.I understand that these are cheap thermometers, but such wildly inaccurate readings makes them all but useless.

These thermometers are the real deal. They function well, and a great feature are those carrying cases. This is an obvious benefit for thermometers like these.For me they are easy to use, however it is possible le that there could be a learning curve if a person wasn’t raised reading one of these things.As I said the case is imperative, so I would not call them durable. Keep the case close by.This kind of thermometer is fantastic for reading body temperature under the arm.
