Follow the directions and you will get great results
I am no cook. My wife does most of the cooking in our home. I dabble from time to time but that is it.As for rice, I have never actually tried to cook rice other than rice that comes pretty much full proof in packaged sides or dinners. Due to the horror stories I have heard about getting rice to cook properly, I just never gave it a chance before.I simply followed the directions and hoped for the best. I was very pleased that when the rice was done it was pretty much perfect. I figured it would take me a few tries to get it right. That is not the case with this rice.It is a "sticky rice" that will go well for so many uses. We used the batch I made for a side with dinner. We also tasted it with a bit of butter and salt. My wife went as far as to make a simple rice pudding with some. It tasted really good no matter the use we tried so far.The price is a bit high for the budget minded. As the saying goes, you get what you pay for. In this case the higher price is justified for the quality, taste, texture and ease of preparation.

Is it worth the price?
I initially needed clarification about whether the price of rice was worth it. My husband was shocked when I told him the price. He was not happy, but after he tasted it, he was highly impressed. The rice tastes different from what we are used to buying from the local supermarket. The consistency is sticky, which is perfect for us. I am an avid shopper of Asian stores and enjoy rice with kimchi and fish. I would repurchase it! A little goes a long way, and as long as you follow the instructions on the bag, the outcome will be amazingly delicious rice!

California White Short Grain - Koshihikari Variety
The texture of this rice is perfect. Slightly sticky but the individual grains stand on their own. I am used to 2:1 water/rice ratios so was suspicious of the 1:1 ratio recommended on the bag. I used 1 cup of dashi to cook 1 cup of dry rice. The bag suggests 1 cuo of dry rice will produce 4 cups of cooked rice. My own result was about 3 cups of finished rice. I served the rice plain along side wilted spinach and ling cod filets. The rice was excellent it was easy to imagine using this rice in sushi, biryani, and other rice centered dishes. This rice was so unusually good I had to do a little research on the Koshihikari and discovered that it is considered a prized and premium quality rice. It certainly is superior to the rice I usually cook at home. If there is any caution here, it is with the bag it arrives in. The cloth handle is insufficiant to support the weigh of 15 pounds of rice. Grab the bag by a top corner and support the bottom when you transport the bag.

Love this rice
We've been making this almost every night with dinner in our rice cooker. It steam up nice and has a great flavor. 15 lbs is a lot of rice, but it stays fresh and we use it all the time. I can see us ordering this rice again soon.

Very hard and crunchy, not the most flavorful.
Looked promising and had very easy instructions but overall not that great. I thought the aroma while cooking was very mild, nothing desirable, and the taste was pretty bland. I was disappointed in the cook of this rice, it came out very hard and still crunchy, was not tender or flavorful, nothing interesting about it at all.

Better Than Expected
I didn't realize until after I got it that it was Californian Short-Grain, but we used it anyway. For a type we typically don't use, it actually work really well with the curry and tempura that we made.
