Very useful to prepare for the HSK 1 test
The reader really elevated my understanding of the Chinese language and the multiple ways many of the HSK 1 words can be used. Most of the material that I have found to study for the HSK 1 only have one or two examples of how each words is used, but this reader combines words together in wide variety of ways. If you want to gain a solid foundation to get ready for the HSK1 test, I highly recommend this book.

Good, but very short.
Very short. The whole book is 21 pages. A two page long story, repeated. First with All three: Chinese characters, pinyin and English. Then each in its own section, so you can read just the Hanzi, if you want. The one thing that is missing: some translations I see have a literal English translation, then an idiomatic one. That helps to see what each character adds to the meaning of the words.

Good for practice
Xiao Ming's Day is exactly what it says - a simple story with HSK 1 vocabulary. The grammar is simple and the story is a 'slice of life' genre about a college student in China. It's a great way to practice reading comprehension, check hanzi recognition, and practice your pronunciation by reading out loud. The main text provides hanzi, pinyin, and English translation. However, other sections provide just pinyin and just hanzi for better practice.

Very helpful for applying HSK study knowledge
In studying independently for the HSK 1 exam, I was very happy to find this graded reader. It incorporates all 150 HSK words into a short story that takes place in Beijing. Reading the story first with all three versions (Chinese, pinyin, and translation), then with pinyin, then just in Chinese, is extremely helpful for building fluent reading. The back of the booklet bills this a story of Xiaoming's "incredible" day. Lol.

Just right
The story was not too hard and not too easy. It challenged me and was just what I needed to help me read and understand Chinese.

Useful for beginner
The book was suitable for my beginner (about HSK1) level in Chinese. I can understand the most part but there are unknown words and grammar which I had to look up and remember. On the other hand, the design of the book leaves much to be desired.

This is a useful beginner's reader at the HSK-1 level
This is a useful beginner's reader at the HSK-1 level. It includes most, if not all of the HSK-1 words in a minimal fashion. I just wish it had been longer with a greater variety of sentences.
