OAE Primary Education (PK-5) (055) Secrets Study Guide: OAE Exam Review and Practice Test for the Ohio Assessments for Educators

This study material, while offering some good information and general test-taking tips, did not sufficiently prepare me for the OAE test. The test covered material that was not presented at all in these books, like Ohio history. If I need to retake the exam, I will be looking for study prep materials elsewhere.

Arrived quick. Packaged well. Easy to understand and I definitely recommend this product to help with the little ones getting back into school.

I feel I need to put this in the beginning, I have not taken the test for the Ohio Assessments for Educators nor taken a similar test. The only information I have to go on is the study packet. What troubled me the most is the lack of equations for the math portion and the analogy of using books typically taught in a higher grade levels then fifth grade. I understand that this is for individuals to use their knowledge from past experience but I find it hard to equate how a kindergartener is going to understand the historical and social implications of books like the Great Gatsby or Moby Dick. The other issue I had was the explanation of math equations. How are teachers or soon to be teachers supposed to understand how to write a specific equation if there is no example of it in the text. If there questions are set up on the test to be taken, then I have some issues with said test, the writers of the study guide have a passing mark on my review.With the changing of the curriculum and more inclusive nature of the classroom, I would have liked to have seen more coverage of the ESL learners and multiple intelligences, which had very little coverage in this guide.There was an issue with the every bold word title being capitalized while the rest where lower case, this gave me a headache after reading for a short time and I had to set the book down several times to let my eyes readjust.Overall, this guide gave a comprehensive overview and went in-depth enough to give a clear understanding of the material.

I am not a teacher, nor plan to take the test this study guide is intended for, but I really enjoy learning. This study guide is fun and very educational! The format is very user friendly. It has large print, and good line spacing, which makes it really easy to read! The quality of the cover, paper, etc is nice. The cover has a nice gloss to it to as any soft cover book cover should have. I really enjoyed all the information included in this study guide! When I read educational books I like to analyze, study and test myself in them as if I was taking it as a certified course. This study guide has and will continue to help me in my own personal learning experiences. It has provided me with excellent tips to better my study time! Since I am not a teacher and do not plan to take the exam this guide is for, I do not know how efficient it is with covering everything needed to pass. However, with all the knowledge this guide has in it across all subjects (and then some) I definitely think this study guide would be a very good tool to use in preparation for the exam it is intended to prepare you for. Either way, whether used as a study guide for the exam or just as a really cool pair of books to have in your library, this is a winner!
