Great if you have an easy, square yard with no obstacles like trees or plants.
Reviewing SUNSEEKER L22 Robotic Lawn Mower 0.3 Acre/13,000 Sq. Ft., The section of our yard that needs mowed is small. The issue is that it’s sectioned off and is not one big square. It’s sectioned off into three distinct areas, with a tree in each area, some shrubs along the edges and patios in each section. I knew it would not be a simple to mark it off for this robot by reading the listing page, however, I was confident with some time put in up front, it would work well after the initial time investment. That was sort of a correct assumption. It took some time to map it all out with the wire (including the trees). Once I did get it all mapped out, I realized there are some areas that are best left off and done manually. I have one section with a seedling that I don’t want mowed over so I am completely avoiding that area with the mower, but everything else is working well. I don’t mind weed eating around the sapling. Better safe than sorry. Unfortunately, it is a lot of work to get the guide wire in place since our yard is not a perfect square with nothing in the middle. I knew it would be work, but not as much work as it was.We have two dogs, so we don’t run this on a schedule. We go out, pick up the poop and any branches/toys/twigs, etc, before manually starting a run cycle. We learned the hard way not to run this if the grass is damp or long, so you need to run it around your sprinkler schedule and not let the grass get too tall between mowing. The battery life is good for our yard, but again, the area we mow is quite small (less than 5000 feet). If you have a lot of shrubbery or trees, be sure you are willing to put in the initial time investment to map it all out at the beginning. Otherwise, you are going to be frustrated. If you do it properly in the beginning, make sure the yard is picked up before each mow cycle, and make sure the grass is dry and not too all, you will be rewarded with hassle free upkeep of your yard. Rating 3 stars because of the initial frustration trying to map around trees, etc. I feel if it worked like a vacuum cleaner, where you can mark off no go zones, rather than using a guide wire, this would be excellent, but it’s hard enough to set up, that I feel a lot of people would rather return it.

I'd buy it again 100x over
I purchased this through Abunda, which ultimately uses Amazon to purchase, in July 2024. I set it up the same week I received it and am now in my 2nd season mowing with it.Noise level: It's very quiet, especially compared to anything gas powered. My push mower is electric and the L22 is still quieter than it. I've had it mowing until 9pm in the summer and you won't even know it's mowing.Functionality: If you do your research beforehand, you'll find it's very functional. If your property has lots of odd-shaped edges and trees and things like that, robot mowers in general may not be the best fit. Even then, my front yard has some trees and narrow passthroughs that this mower has no problem navigating. Keep in mind that it's mowing pattern is random, so you'll see some patches in your lawn while it finishes. While SunSeeker recommends changing the blades more frequently, I got through last year with one set of blades and didn't notice any issues with the grass. I will try it again this year and keep an eye on it. The blades sunseeker sells are unnecessarily expensive when they're no different than safety razor blades that you can buy on Amazon - 50 for $10.Batery Life: I'll admit I know very little about its battery. I don't keep track of it but know that in a 12 hour mowing period it will go through 3 battery cycles/recharges (and most of those individual 4 hour time slots are it mowing, so it's pretty quick at charging). Long story short- it's not an issue.Bulding Quality: Never had any issues with building quality. Aside from when the snow started, it sits outdoors uncovered most of the year. No chips, scratches or anything. Despite it being white, it stays very clean on the outside. The inside I hose down if grass starts to clump up. It's good quality.Traction: Overal the traction is solid. If there's heavy dew overnight or there's still rain in the grass that didn't absorb into the ground then it occasionally will get a tire to spin in place (which can put small holes in the ground). Out of the hundreds of mows that this model has performed for me, it's gotten stuck maybe 3 or 4 times. Usually that was near the gutter downspouts where water has eroded the ground and caused a mini ditch. I ended up putting landscape gravel under the downspouts and spash guards to prevent it from getting stuck and haven't had an issue since. It's to the point where it will mow when I'm not home and I'm not worried about it.Design: Nothing to complain about- or at least nothing that I wasn't already expecting when I purchased it. It took 3 or 4 hours to get the boundary wires in place and then a couple more hours throughout that week to test them/adjust as needed to my liking. This is my first robot mower and I was blown away at the technology at first. Over time I started eyeballing the fancier robot mowers and all of the new tech they come with. I was actually looking at the newer mowers SunSeeker has released before I realized I hadn't written a review for the L22. Nothing wrong with this mower, but removing boundary wires and adding the floating cutting system would it to mow the area on the other side of the sidewalk that goes through our driveway. That was still possible with the L22 but then I'd have boundary wires on cement (and there's no guarantee the blades wouldn't hit the cement). So for Design, it's great- but if you don't mind spending a few hundred more it's probably worth looking at the bettter models.Overall Value: I bought this for the time-saving and the convenience- nothing more. Our grass grows back very quickly so spending 3 hours a week mowing and weed-eating gets old when you have work/kids/sports/etc and it was difficult to find the time. At first this mower would leave lines in the grass, which is not great when it mows in a random pattern. As I started to pay more attention to the health of my grass though it got thicker and greener and the lines slowly disappeared. Now, it looks like a normaly, well-kept lawn and nobody would know I mow my lawn from my phone. I added an Apple AirTag to mine in a waterproof case and super glued it to the inside since there are no GPS security features (which I'm fine with because most robot mowing comparies make it into a paid subscription so they keep getting money from you). Altogether, I wish I would've made the switch years ago, but admittedly, spending $800 on a robot mower sounds ridiculous to anyone that hasn't used one before so it takes someone sitting down and researching before they actually consider it. Add the fact that some people think it's lazy or are too prideful to make the switch- that's okay, to each their own. For me, this was the right move and I'd do it again. Time with my family was what was most important. Looking forward to the upgrade to see how the new SunSeekers handle boundaries without a phyiscal wire.

Cuts well, but doesn't live up to advertised capabilities
Have used this robot lawn mower for the last 6 month. I selected this model after lots of research and chose it due to it's advertised capabilities and overall value. Unfortunately I have been disappointed as it has not lived up to its advertised capabilities.Pros - 1) cuts well 2) it's very quiet (ninja quiet) 3) will return to it's base when rain is detected and resume cutting once the rain has passed 4) Looks goodCons - 1) Doesn't consistently maintain it's programmed schedule (have to manually start the cutting process >80% of the time) because it 'drops offlne' eventhough it remains connected to our wi-fi network 2) Doesn't actually show a map of your yard in the App as advertised by the manufacturer 3) Often gets stuck for no apparent reason 4) Frequently gets stuck on tree roots 5) Doesn't execute edge cutting on programmed days. 6) Can't program zones for cutting various areas of your lawn as advertised by the manufacturer 7) No response from the manufacturer to questions or concerns submitted via the feedback feature in the app.
