Yes you can stand on those materials while using this tool on minor tasks. For goodness sake, it's only 3.6v!

Q: The screwdriver gets pretty hot while charging. Others mention that, too. Is that normal? Will it overheat?

I charge mine regularly, and mine doesn't get hot. It's warm when plugged, but when I unplug it, it cools down while I am using it.
