I am updating my review of this product as I have had time to see how my orchids have responded over the past few months. I started using it for my phragmipediums and paphiopedillums and the root growth has taken off this past year. I have also switched a lot of my seedling and species orchids over to orchiata. This year I have gotten many species orchids and varieties that have struggled or lost leaves to turn around and many orchids I had nearly given up on have bloomed after puttering around for several years. I just checked the potting mix of one of my phragmipediums which was one of the first I switched over to this product. This orchid has been watered every day and the bark mix has been kept nearly submerged for an entire year and the roots are still growing and the media is still firm and barely showing any sign of break down. When you repot this bark doesn't repel water but actually absorbs it and drains fast. This bark is more expensive than other products but I find that I am not fussing with my plants as much and am probably not spending as much repotting my plants as often. You may spend more to buy it but you will save time and money by not replacing cheaper stuff more often.

Great product. My orchids were looking not so happy. Two weeks after I transplanted in this substrate they started to be more lively. Leaves are greener and thicker.

Came quickly well packaged.I have several orchids and decided to try a different media. Didn't like this as the media was very coarse and big pieces. Not easy to use. Might be good for the plants but not for me

Orchiata orchid bark is more expensive than other barks sold for potting orchids. The added cost is due to the special treatment of this exceptionally hard bark that enables it to last two to three times as long as other orchid barks. The longer usable life of orchiata bark makes it very cost-effective in the long run.

Reasonable price and very nice, even, clean bark chips.

Very good. I repotted my orchids and this mixture is wonderful. It is exactly what is needed for these plants.

Item as described

I was excited to get this bark at a halfway decent price however it came smelling very strongly of mildew. It was wrapped in a clear bag and must have been stored somewhere wet. I was worried about using it. So I removed the bag, washed the outside and let it sit open for a while. So far so good with the product but If there was any leak at all in those bags the product would have been ruined and I did not appreciate bring that smell in my house. Don't think I would purchase from this seller again.
