1. PC's power head phone amp MX3's built-in DAC is much better than PC's built-in sound card. So we suggest you to connect your PC'S coaxial/optical/USB to MX3's input, then connect MX3 to your speaker and headphone. You can also connect a active subwoofer to MX3. 2. Bluetooth power amp + headphone amp You can close to the MX3's NFC label to fast connect MX3's Bluetooth input and enjoy Bluetooth music by speaker or headphone. If your phone or tablet does not has NFC, you can search Bluetooth to connect. Close to the NFC label again to disconnect Bluetooth. 3. Bluetooth receiver MX3 could serve as a Bluetooth receiver. Close to the MX3's NFC label to fast connect MX3's Bluetooth input and enjoy Bluetooth music. If your phone or tablet dones not has NFC, you can search Bluetooth to connect. Close to the NFC label again to disconnect Bluetooth. You can connect output signal from headphone out. 4. Amplifier for disc player & digital player You can connect the coaxial/optical output of your disc player/digital player to MX3. Then you can enjoy music without buting a DAC. 5. DAC + Pre-amplifier If you want to use other amplifier, MX3 COULD SERVE AS dac + Pre-amplifier. Connect input signal to BT/USB/Optical/Coaxial/AUX, then connect output signal from headphone output. 6. Simple Pre-amplifier If your system already has amplifier and DAC, MX3 could serve as a simple pre-amplifier. Good product held back by horrible remote
The remote is so bad that I returned the item. You need the remote to access all options and therefore a bad remote makes this not even a good option for a desk. Quality of item itself is great but the remote is very poor and cheap. I guess you can upgrade to a Logitech harmony remote, but those are expensive and make the total price of the set up too high.Sounds is good for price, but sound floor is not very low with volume all the way down. SMSL SA300 is much quieter when no sound is going to amp and sounds much better. But that other option has no optical input or headphone amp like the topping mx3.

Died after 6 months.
I really like this unit. I was totally happy with it. It sounded great and drove an efficient set of speakers with no problems. Unfortunately the unit failed after almost exactly six months. It stopped outputting audio. I can only assume something went wrong on the DAC side. The unit lights up and looks like it should be operating properly, bud does not output any audio through the speaker or headphone outputs unless you use the aux input. The amp portion still seems to be working fine.

Sounds good. Usability nightmare.
At first glance, this little thing has a lot of great features. I've used it long enough to realize those features come with a price.First, if you unplug USB, like to take your computer out of the room, you can't just plug it back in and expect it to work. You'll either need to unplug from the unit, power it off/on, or both to get it working again. But you certainly can't expect it to work like every other USB device on earth.Depending on your setup, it may give you a huge POP when you turn it on. My subwoofer nearly blows up when I turn power it on/off. So, I just keep it on all the time.It has the most difficult headphone jack I've ever used. I feel like I'm gonna break the thing every time I plug/unplug headphones. The remote is terrible. It'll take 3 clicks to get any function to work.Topping, in general, has proven the don't have good quality control. I've ordered two devices from them, this MX3 and a D10. Had to return both of the first shipments because they BOTH has something loose rolling around inside the unit. What are the odds?I'll likely replace this thing.UPDATE 01/31/20: The volume control has started *increasing* when turning it down. The volume control has always been trash. If you moved the knob slowly it will barely change the output. If you move it fast, it will change it 3x as much. Just terrible. So, you can put it in the same position and get different output, depending on how slow or fast you moved it there. LOL. You get what you pay for, people.I fully expect this thing to blow my speakers one day because it does whatever the F it wants.
