Tastes Like Dessert, Performs Like Fuel
This stuff tastes exactly like a little shot of chocolate pudding, which was a pleasant surprise - and honestly makes it way easier to take than most energy gels. It’s a small amount of gel for a good amount of energy - I use one before roller derby practice and it gives me the boost I need without upsetting my stomach or tasting like regret. Buying the bulk packs makes it way more affordable but the price is well worth it for the energy boost.Great texture, great taste, and it actually works. Can’t ask for much more in a gel!

Great Energy Gel
I’ve been using GU Energy Gel for my workouts, and it has consistently exceeded my expectations. As someone who engages in both strength training and endurance activities, I’ve found this gel to be an essential part of my routine. Each 100-calorie packet is conveniently portable, making it easy to carry whether I’m running, lifting weights, or hiking. What sets GU Energy Gel apart is its dual-source energy from maltodextrin and fructose, which ensures efficient absorption without causing the dreaded energy spikes or crashes. It provides a steady, long-lasting source of fuel, keeping me energized throughout my workouts. Additionally, the branched-chain amino acids (BCAAs) have noticeably reduced my muscle fatigue and soreness, allowing me to recover more quickly between sessions.I usually take a packet before starting and then every 45 minutes during longer workouts or hikes. The Vanilla Bean flavor with 20mg of caffeine gives a nice, subtle boost without being overwhelming. The added electrolytes, including 60mg of sodium and 40mg of potassium, help prevent cramping and keep me hydrated, even during intense, sweaty sessions.I also appreciate that this gel is vegan and gluten-free, making it suitable for a wide range of dietary preferences. Whether you’re an endurance athlete or someone who just wants an energy boost during training, GU Energy Gel is a reliable and effective option. I’ve tried a variety of energy gels over the years, but this one consistently delivers the best results in terms of performance and recovery.Highly recommended for anyone looking to enhance their endurance and training efficiency.

Delicious Fuel for my long-distance runs
Portable, high-energy, and delicious. I’m new to distance running but Gu’s are so ideal for that morale and energy boost it gives me about 45-50 minutes into the run and about every 45-50 minutes afterwards. Some guys say to just suck it down, but I enjoy the taste. The package is very functional and sucks down flat to pack away.I have a number of these in my collection. My favorite two are Chocolate Outrage (the name makes me laugh), and the Raspberry Lemonade ones are fantastic.

Great fuel for your run if you are a chocolate lover like me!
This is my go to for fuel during a race! It does have a thick consistency so it is best used with water to help with that. It has a great chocolate flavor without that artificial flavor after taste. It’s so easy to use so it won’t slow you down on the go. The caffeine is just right if used as instructed. I recommend using during training runs to see what works best for you come race day. They are a great price compared to what I see at most expos. I recommend buying prior!

Heavy spray
I've been using GU for a long time, 10 years or more, and I think it's a wonderful product. However, I have noticed that when I'm consuming multiple ones during a race and such, they start to taste sweet, which I don't like at all; the last thing I want when I'm 20 miles into a run is something sweet. I thought all gels were pretty much the same, but alas, I now know that that's not true.I have recently discovered another product, gel from Hammer Nutrition. Their flavors are superior (to me anyway), and they're not overwhelmingly loaded with sugar. Also, after you take one you're not scrambling for the water bottle since they don't leave a syrup consistency in your mouth. If you're only going to use 1 gel, then GU can fit the bill, but if you're going to consume multiple ones, you might want to look at the gel from Hammer Nutrition.Oh, about the carbs and sugar content. There are more simple carbs in the GU gels, which means that it brings you up and down much faster. Hammer gels have a great deal more complex carbs in them (and they're natural), so you don't spike up and drop down fast, meaning that you give your body a consistent supply of energy without the spikes. This has been a nice change in my training.FYI, the flavors of GU I like are the Mint Chocolate and Vanilla. For Hammer gels, I like the Huckleberry, Raspberry, and Apple Cinnamon.

My go-to gel
My favorite gels. Love the taste and texture. Feels like you’re eating chocolate pudding. Works great for long endurance activities (marathons, triathlons, bike races) and all the training.

Works great, tastes even better!
Tastes like chocolate pudding! All I've heard from the running community about gels is that they're so disgusting and you just have to choke them down. I'm training for a marathon right now and since there will be GU gels available at the race, figured I needed to incorporate them into my long runs. Went with the chocolate flavor because it was on sale (I'm more of a fruity girl so this was a risk). Well I tried these today during my 17 mile long run and all I could say was WOOOOW! This was like having dessert on my run! It was a sweet, silky, delicious chocolate pudding in a compact, easy to carry tube. If anything it tasted too good, I just wanted more immediately!I didn't necessarily feel any kick of energy, but my muscles kept working and I didn't hit a wall. That's all you can ask for, I think. I took a total of 2 gels and ate a banana. Great combo! They didn't hurt my stomach at all. I have a stronger than average stomach I'd say, so probably don't take my word for it unless you're the same.Overall, I highly recommend!
