--- Initial Purchase ---We recently purchased this mattress for our firstborn. Our initial thoughts:- The removable cover feels much more durable than we expected. It has a nice weight and texture.- We did air the mattress out, but the initial odor is not nearly as strong as what we've experienced with other mattresses.- This mattress seems to be MUCH higher quality than the similarly priced items at other stores (BuyBuyBaby, Target, etc.).As a side note, we did go down the rabbit trail of looking for a mattress that would contain the least amount of potentially harmful materials. My personal opinion after researching this subject is that many companies claim to use special "natural" materials as part of their advertising, but there is no guarantee of the accuracy of these claims. Moonlight Slumber has all the certifications that I would look for in a mattress provider (UL Greenguard Gold, US Certified Foam, Made in USA), and that has given me confidence that they are taking efforts to support their claims of a high quality product by receiving these certifications.We will update the review when it's had a chance to experience some wear and tear.

Update 2: it's been a year or so since I got the replacement. New one is holding up excellent. Kiddo is a chonky boy but the mattress looks good as new. First one must have been a fluke.Update:customer service got back to me within the hour and after I sent them some photos of the mattress and proof of purchase, they're sending me a replacement and want my mattress sent back to them (in the box the replacement comes in) so they can figure out what happened.I'm pretty happy with this. Lemons happen: nothing a lifetime warranty and fast customer service can't fix. :) I'll update one last time when we try out the new mattress for a few weeks and confirm (hopefully!) that this was truly a fluke.Oh, and Patti (their Customer Service person) asked me about the slump and between my description and the photos said she's confident my son can keep sleeping on the mattress in the meantime, it's not a safety issue at the moment. So that's good that my baby was never in danger. Still, I'm glad it's getting replaced as I do want this mattress to work for him through toddlerhood and I can't imagine it'd be very comfy for him to sleep on a mattress with even a mild slump.* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *I've only had my now 4 month old son in this crib for 2-3 weeks. He is 75th percentile in weight for his age, so 16.5 lbs. Not tiny, but definitely smaller than the toddler age this supposedly can accommodate.There's already a slump in the middle. At first I thought it was an optical illusion of the crib sheets, I just couldn't believe it! But I ran my hand over it from side to side and I can feel the clear valley.Is this even safe? Aren't babies supposed to sleep on flat surfaces?I'm unfortunately beyond the return window, as I purchased this before my son was born but he slept in a bassinet the first few months. So I've emailed the manufacturer and hoping they make this right. I'm really upset at the idea I need to buy him a brand new mattress after only 2-3 weeks of use!

Great mattress! It's pricey but well worth it for my son. My son for a week started waking up randomly at night crying and we did our research and one of the problems was that the infant mattress might be too hard. So we switched mattress from his infant mattress to this and now he sleeps all throughout the night. Couldn't be more happier.

My toddler is now almost 20 months old and this thing hasn't held its shape well at all. I just ordered a Serta mattress since we just replaced our master bedroom mattress at the same time.My toddler moves a ton during the night so I think he may be uncomfortable, but he has broken down the center of this mattress so much that when the sheets aren't on it you can see the huge divot in the middle where the material has broken down. I don't recommend this mattress if you're looking for something that will last you the first couple years of your child's life. Gave it a three because it has been okay for the first 1.5 years at least. Like that it's double-sided so he was safe as an infant.

Thwy are hard as rock even on the toddler side but i guess thats how is suppose to be for kids. Im not gonna be the one sleeping on them. So far 2 nights and they slept through out the night. I purchased 2 for my twins 21 mounth old and i love the quality. Just wanna mention the cover is not water prove but i prefer it that way that those vinyl things

I was looking for a mattress that had non toxic materials and this mattress seems to check those boxes off for me. It also comes with a nice cotton cover with a zipper. I also liked that it is a dual sided mattress. The infant side is very firm. The only reason why I gave a 4 is because it took my son about a week and a half to adjust and woke up frequently throughout the night. But now he is sleeping just fine and I have the comfort of knowing he is sleeping on a high quality mattress.

Just got this because I had my 11 month old son on a play yard memory foam mattress but I finally had room to buy a crib. Best investment ever! I was nervous on the price but I was determined to find a mattress for my little guy that had the best reviews so I did a ton of research and this one hit everything I was looking for. Once I put it in the crib and he laid on it he wouldn't stop smiling at me and passed out immediately. He was wide awake mind you! The cover is very soft so you dont have to worry about putting a different cover on unless you want to but trust me you get your money's worth!

My daughter had bought a crib, and by the second child the mattress was saggy with gaps around the edges. I was insistent that she get a new mattress and sent this one. They love it. She said that it is way better than what she had before and probably better than their own. I had peace of mind that it was safe, as well. I also like that there is a toddler side and an infant side. Great idea!

Got this for our 3 year old. He is learning to potty train and doesn't like the sound the plastic mattress cover makes. This mattress is covered with a cover covering and then a soft plastic like cover. This allows messy to be cleaned up quickly and easily. However the mattress does em to warp or bend in the middle. We are going to try a board under the middle to make it more stable. Its okay for the price and ships easily.
