Relatable & easy to read
I follow her on social media already so had an idea of what I was purchasing. Lots of stories with insight and suggestions in an easy to read conversational text, plus her own story adds value and relatability.

Unlocking Secure Bonds: A Compassionate Guide to Relationships
This book is an invaluable resource for those looking to break free from negative patterns and build a foundation for a strong, interdependent relationship. Dr. Tracy helps to make complex theories of relationship dynamics accessible and actionable. She masterfully intertwines evidence-based strategies from emotionally-focused therapy, Gottman's insights, and principles from attachment theory into a framework that guides readers towards deepen connections and foster secure partnerships. What makes this book stand out is its empathetic tone and shame-busting approach, effectively normalizing the challenges many couples face.Through real-life examples from five couples not only bring the principles to life but also reassure us that we're not alone in our struggles. Its clear path, grounded in proven practices, not only demystifies but also destigmatizes the common struggles, encouraging open dialogue and a deeper bond between partners. I recommend this book!

Good resource, not quite as good as the Gottman's work
An interesting read for therapists, those struggling in a relationship, and those that would like to better understand couples therapy. The author shares how some of her work applies in her own life, which can be both comforting (hey I'm not alone!) and uncomfortable. If you're reaching for a couples help book for the first time ever, I'd probably recommend using the Gottman's resources first. This author does reference them and a variety of others doing the work and gives a good summary of many thoughts around couples work. I do like the questions at the end of the chapters that help it to connect back to your relationship. Good resource overall!

Dr. Tracy's book resonates to all audiences
I started this book in hopes I could find answers in my own struggling relationship. Dr. Tracy's book has been so enlightening. I see so much of myself in the clients described in the book. For me personally, I have been highlighting and writing side notes in my copy. "I Didn't Sign Up for This" is a wonderful fusion of a nightstand easy read and a textbook. Plethora of knowledge told in a uplifting manner. Highly recommend.

Read This
I am not finished yet, but I know I will already do another read through. Dr. Tracy has such a wonderful way of story telling that I instantly felt connected with the different people and situations. There are so many times already that I called my friend and shared golden nuggets from this book. I love the work part at the end of each chapter. This is a great addition to go along with therapy.

Wonderful book!
I was glued to the book and sped through it in two days! Will definitely read through again and again. I love all the example phrases, stories, and lessons to apply that related to the chapters. Thank you Dr. Tracy for sharing your experiences with us. I could relate to all of the stories in one way or another. And while parts of it were triggering, it was helpful to feel seen in those struggles.

Awesome book
Not all the way through this book yet, but it makes me feel like our marriage is not the only one that struggles and we feel better about continuing to work through our differences. We find a lot of similarities with the scenarios in the book. Love how real the author writes.
