I thoroughly enjoy reading the stories of each of these women and the roles they played in producing, creating and writing some of the best songs and working with some of the greatest r &b and hip hop artists of all time. These women were transparent with their stories and deserve a seat at the table. This is a book that will encourage and inspire you to never give up on your dreams and passion. I am definitely inspired! 😀

My husband bought me this book, a great read from awesome women telling their truth of being the missing pieces Behind the Mic.• this isn't new, a lot of women are not valued for what they do in their homes as well. Working a full-time job or two jobs and still taking care of home responsibilities.• we tend to be on auto getting stuff done, and can still be left behind, not acknowledged for what we have done for those we build up, at some point you realize you are not valued for your hard work.• I commend you all for continuing to dream and redirect, or change course when necessary.• I am looking forward to the event

This book was extraordinary as various women in the music industry share how they all collectively contributed to the support, assistance, brains and behind the scenes advancement of hip hop but why do we not now there names? Why they were never acknowledged? But that is ok because they understood that if you wait for someone to tell your story they will not tell it authentically or they may not tell it at all so these worthy women decided to tell their own story. Without them we may have never known Tupac, Biggie Smalls, Bell Biv Devoe and almost all the trailblazers of hip hop. Here is there classy truth. I highly recommend this book.

Being a Dr.Brookshire FAN, I bought the book and dug into it IMMEDIATELY! But it’s funny how a book like this makes you sit down and think about how women in all professional arenas are Ignored and Erased! The women behind the mic is every story that was ignored by the men in the entertainment industry that were supported and protected by these strong business women. I laughed, I shrieked, I cried and I really sat with these women. It’s an easy read but lots of thought provoking points and critical advice needed for any women even thinking about getting into the music or broadcast business. I advocate this book for classes, for a day alone, for personal study, for private interest. I came thinking I knew one thing, and found that I knew nothing at all, take a day and walk with these women… you won’t regret it. Amen.

I'm excited for this book! I love the stories that are being told about the essence of women in Hip-Hop. There will be no Hip-Hop without the women who forged innovative ideas that cultivated a global phenomena. It is good to see and hear the stories of these powerful women who have changed the world one city at a time!

This book is amazing, it gives you so much insight when it comes to the music industry and the women behind the scenes. A definite page turner!!
