Q: why is this better than a tile saw?

Thank you for your inquiry. That is a question many people have, and while many people use tile saws to cut stone, we can not recommend this. Many experts in the lapidary field advise against using them for safety reasons. For practical reasons, here are a few reasons the 4/5" trim saw would be preferable. All Hi-Tech Diamond saw machines run quieter and are less messy to operate, which means they can be used indoors. Additionally, the trim saws run at a slower RPM and use thinner blades, allowing for less loss of material and cleaner thinner cuts. There is a great video discussing the pros and cons of these saws by YouTuber Currently Rockhounding that you may find very helpful as well.

Q: Can we use water with the blade or must we use oil?

Yes, you can use water with this blade and machine. We actually recommend using water vs. oil because it's cleaner to work with.

Q: Does it comes with holder for small sample pieces, picture with fingers looks dangerous ?

No, it does not come with a holder. It is very difficult to get hurt when you run a diamond blade with water, which is what this saw requires.

Q: Does this plug in a normal socket?

Yes, but we highly encourage using a GFCI outlet.
