Great cup of tea and cute!
I love this teapot! It keeps the tea hotter longer than my other pot did. Plus I like that it doesn't need a fuser to keep the tea leaves out of your cup. I love the cobalt color. There are a few hairline cracks in the glaze but I think that comes with use. You have to really look to see them, the light had just hit it right to make me notice. I do hand wash mine. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Faulty Glaze
Dear seller, This tea pot is definitely faulty. After a few uses, the blue glaze is now cracked all over the teapot including the lid. The clay is not yet compromised, just the glaze! that means the teapot is functional - holds the water without leaks - but, the pot now looks awful with the cracks in the glaze appearing white in high contrast against the cobalt blue. I am guessing the batch of glaze used on this pot was compromised during formulating which implies poor quality control on the part of the manufacturer. If my guess is right, then this symptom may not appear on every pot sold as you receive pots from a mix of batches. As a seller you may have received at least one pot with the faulty glaze - the one I received. OR you might hear from other buyers. Sorry for the bad news.P.S. during my student days I took many classes in arts/ceramics and I mixed glazes for the college's studio hence speaking from considerable experience.

Revised Review
I am revising this review after comapring the pot and lid to another cobalt betty teapot. That lid is the same size as mine. I am now using the teapot, and the lid does stay in place. The pot is beautiful, and I am happy with it.Original review, two stars:The pot arrived promptly and was well packaged. I did not see any flaws or glaze problems with the pot itself or with the lid itself - but the lid is much too small for the teapot and was obviously meant for a much smaller pot. it doesn't fall into the pot - but neither will it stay on if the pot is tipped even a little. I was excited about the color, but I'm very disappointed with the purchase. At least it was not expensive - I have seen prices vary wildly for this particular pot, but I only paid $21.80 for a 6-cup - well, I should say that I paid $21.80 for a 6-cup pot and a 2-cup lid...

Pretty, but too hot to handle
I bought this to replace a similar one that leaks, which drove me crazy. This one is lovely, and doesn't drip at all, but the ceramic gets so hot I can't pick it up to pour without something to wrap around the handle, or I'll burn my hand.

Great part of British history, but handle gets VERY hot.
It is a great teapot and fits my tea leaf strainer perfectly (I have a large one). It looks fantastic at tea time and holds enough tea for 6 people. The only thing to watch out for, and why I give it 4 stars, is that the handle gets REALLY hot and it takes awhile to cool down enough to handle it without a hand mitt. So just know that before you buy. Great part of English history, but watch your hands!

The inside seems fine, but it looks a mess
I bought this as a gift and they washed it in the dishwasher before using. The enamel came out with a bunch of little cracks, so I purchased a second teapot. After 5 uses and only handwashing, the same thing happened. The inside seems fine, but it looks a mess!

Not posh but practical!
The red clay of this teapot retains heat much longer than ceramic teapots so that is why 4 of my 13 teapots are clay Brown Bettys. Since they are handmade, they have wee imperfections and are not posh or pretty, but they are sturdy, sound and great for everyday use. This pot holds exactly 6 eight-ounce cups. (The Union Jack is a STICKER, not part of the teapot.) I make only 4 cups of tea in mine so have not had a problem with the handle being too hot. Perhaps if one made a full pot, that might be a problem. This pot gets used every day & is still holding up well over a year (July 20, 2018).

This one arrived cracked so I ordered a replacement in brown but as to the teapot, I give the Brown Betty pot five stars regardless of color. I've had a 4 cup for years and just wanted a larger one for weekends.
