Packing issue has been addressed
I bought this to run along side an SSD, not in raid but it works a treat. I'm using it for mass storage of music, photos and movies and duplicating them on WD live 1TB. The read and write speeds are great considering the programs used are on the SSD. I found it quiet and formatting the drive was simple. I read reviews on the WD raptor 10000rm drives (which are twice the price) and people havent noticed a great deal of excess speed using the raptor, once instance a person stated that a stop watch would be needed to see the difference and also the noise from the raptor is excessive. So overall a value for money purchase and will add another barracuda or momentis from seagate later. Oh and it came in a sturdy foam packed box.

Good drive
I have no complaint's whatsoever concerning the drive. Functions as is with great response times. However the packaging was ludicrous. Ordered along with the following items;D-Link DHP-307AV/B 200 MBPS PowerLine Homeplug AV Network Starter KitSharkoon Fireglider Laser Mouse - BlackAll the items were packaged in a larger box together. Great not a problem with this as it makes perfect sense, but what seems just stupid to me is the HD had NO protective packagiing whatsover and was just sealed in it's anti static bag. This is a delicate item and should have the minimal of some bubble wrap protection, but to have none is madness.

Did not quite live up to expectations
Having owned a couple of these drives in the past (older models), I bought two of these up-to-date drives with great expectations. Unfortunately they did not quite 'cut the mustard' for me. Both 1Tb drives went into my machine, with an existing Seagate Barracuda from a couple of years ago. I found the new drives to be very noisy, and at least one of them has now also started to make peculiar screaming nosies at start up. Having spoken with the very helpful Seagate support services, they suggested the drives are returned, and thats just what I am doing, returning them back to Amazon. Putting the 'peculiar' noise aside, the constant hum and vibration from the new drives is just too distracting for me to work with.On a positive note, these are very fast drives, and I did notice a swift change in startup and general use of the machine, with a newly installed system on one of the new drives. Would I buy another? Probably not this model, but I do not think it would put me off future purchases of Seagate drives. I base this on how good the older models I own have performed.

A year on and still not a single problem.
Bought this HDD last year to replace a old one, a big difference but that was to be expected. Came fully packaged with padding and all. A year has gone by and not a single problem, error or noise change. Has ran quietly and fast the entire time even when filled or running games from Skyrim to BF3. Would recommend it if you are in need for a new HDD not the best on the market but certainly not the worst.

What about the packaging!
I like others was surprised to have this arrive in the same package as used for books. The drive is very quiet and seems to work very well. The access and retrieval times are also very good. Overall a very good drive for the money but why just send it in an unprotected box?

Excellent
Very Good Hard Drive Fast, Reliable And Affordable For People Looking For A Hard Drive For a Gaming RigThis Hard Drive Was Way Better Than My 500 Gb Hitachi In My Old RigThe Hard Drive Was Packed Nicely, Nice to See The Packaging Issue Has Been FixedThe Hard Drive Comes In Two Envolopes In Bubble Rap And In A Static Bag.However Do Not Buy This Hard Drive If You Can't Put Up With The Normal Clicking (Seeking) Noise It Makes. Don't Worry It Is Not Bad It's Just How Seagate Hard drives Sound I Hated It At First But Now I Am Used To It.

SUPER HARD DRIVE WITH A GREAT CAPACITY AND PERFORMANCE
i was amazed hem I saw how thin the drive was considering that it was 1TB GB. I found that it slipped into the drive compartment in my desktop easily and was immediately recognised by the OS. It has worked since then without any problems and appears to be remarkably fast. I would recommend this drive without any reserves.

Noisy piece of crap, crap packaging
I bought this drive about 10 months ago, it came in the crappiest flimsy packaging (a book box)which I was pretty concerned about, alas I had to get a harddrive in my computer to use it, so went with it. I regret buying this badly. After about a week of use, it starts to make a hell of a lot of noise, if its reading or writing you can hear it from the next room. I didn't think a harddrive could make so much noise.Strongly don't reccommend buying one of these hard drives through amazon, I don't know if the drive is a piece of crap initially or the battering it recieved getting here in the crap pakaging did it.
