Eh????
Well, this is Dark Side of the Moon, but not as you know it.If this is Mr Water’s vision of how the original album should have been, I can only say thank the Lord we had Mr Gilmore to deflect from the Water’s influence. It is very much a narrated experience with RW’s melancholy reflections being a tad overbearing at times. The music is interesting, and very atmospheric at times, but it just lacks the creativity of the original DSOTM. I fully appreciate that this is a Roger Waters album, and not a Pink Floyd album.Would I recommend this? Only to play late at night when you might appreciate its ambience, otherwise I would return to the original and enjoy Pink Floyd at its finest.

A genius at work! Not for everyone, but I love it!
I love this album, but no doubt it won’t be for everyone! It’s different and intriguing throughout. I particularly like time and money, it’s a very relaxing album! Great for a late night listen and I can’t wait to listen to it through my headphones! The vinyl sounds great, a fine pressing! Also great effort has gone into the cover and sleeve! 5 stars from me!!

Interesting but inessential
There are some interesting low-key interpretations on this but much of it is spoilt by Roger telling the sorts of stories that really belong between songs in a live set, not over the top of classics. It’s interesting once or twice but ultimately just makes you want to listen to the original.

It's NOT a replacement, it's an alternative
Roger Waters' re-imagining of Dark Side of The Moon is bound to divide opinion. Some people are so much in love with the original that any tinkering is sinful. So the first thing you need is an open mind. I've recently become a fan of the Easy Star All Stars reggae version so I'm used to listening afresh. This surprised me. It is more melancholy - almost too much, but as fits an older man reflecting on his life and the world around him (which, let's face it, isn't a pretty place at the moment). Roger's voice sounds weary as though life has taken a toll. Given the subject matter (sanity/madness?), that's not a problem for me. Of course, we don't get Gilmour's guitar or Clare Torrey's voice but, if you want them, put the original album on. This can have a place too, just on a different shelf.

Undecided
The item I’m reviewing is the Amazon Exclusive violet edition. It has to be one of the worst pressings that I’ve received in a long time. Sides one and two crackle like a 50 year old album and the bass is so distorted that it’s uncomfortable to listen to. I would return the album but the album is now out of stock. As for the album itself, I’m undecided. I’ve been listening to the original album for 50 years having bought the album when it was originally released. It’s therefore difficult for me not to throw my arms up in horror. My initial reaction is that it’s slow and turgid and that Waters set out to dec-construct the album. The additional commentary is also irritating and possibly a bit self indulgent. But maybe I should take off my blinkers and embrace the new version and give it a chance.

Yes this is a Masterpiece
First of all this is not Roger Waters re doing one of the greatest albums ever made .It’s Roger Waters doing a whole new take on the best concept albums ever made.Great recording, spoken word and poetry from a modern day musical genius.

Imprescindibile

I was expecting something else. Interesting interpretation, but I would not give it a high mark.
This album sounds like the music is filtered with missing highs. Sounds flavorless! Rodger's droning voice gets me depressed. He talks, there is not much singing, if any. That was well below my expectations, but it is understandable. First, it was made almost 50 years after the original, and second, the rest of the band is not there to help to sound a bit more positive. I can honestly say I will just keep this album to my Floyd collection and that is all. I love Pink Floyd, but this is clearly not Floyd, but Roger. Furthermore, I pre-ordered this album, without pre-listening. What a let-down, I tried and wanted to like it.
