Works like a charm!
I like that this filter is small, lightweight, and quiet. It hits the sweet spot of "just big enough" and "just powerful enough" in my book. For those concerned about the fan power, I can assure you that it does not take much suction at all to pull in soldering fumes, and personally I do not like working with a small hurricane on my desk.In the picture, I am soldering a toggle switch using a large flat iron tip. Anyone who has ever done this knows this generates a lot of smoke, and you can see that it is all going into my filter from a distance of about 5 inches. Just solder in front of the filter and you won't breath fumes again.Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and I highly recommend this product.

High Suction Fume Extractor
This is a great fume extractor for the price. It sucks most of the soldering fumes and is massive. 10/10 would buy again.

Great for small projects
No issues setting it up, easy to use, i do move it while soldering a larger piece so that it is near where I am actively soldering. I make stained glass items and feel relieved to have something pulling and filtering the smoke. I used to just use a fan to blow it away and soldered outdoors only. Now I am more comfortable doing it indoors as well, but will crack a window open.

Fantastic performance at half the price for Hakko.
They ripped off the Hakko design but at the same time $80 for the exact Hakko name brand is the real rip off. Is basically a plastic frame holding a PC fan.

Messy and left black eveywhere
The media could not be loaded. The box was filled with black dust! I took a filter out of the box and it covered me and my desk with black dust and particles!!! It is everywhere!!!! How can this work as a filter when it is full of disintegrated materials??

Works as expected, great value.
It works just as I had expected. The fan is a bit noisy, but that's a fan for you. I had no preconceptions of how it would work. Does the job.Very happy.

Works as long as it is higher than the items being soldered
Unit works well, filters nicely and is relatively quiet. It does what it is supposed to do. Only thing is that it needs to be a little higher than the item being soldered. If the soldering work is level with the input of the fan, it will not draw in the smoke or fumes. So I usually have it sitting on some wood scraps, about 1/2 foot higher than what is being soldered...then it works fine. That is the reason for 3 stars...not a high enough air draw to pull from an item level with it, has to be elevated above work to be effective.
