I have the most picky Guinea Pigs EVER!
I was genuinely at a loss with hay for my two teenage, male guinea pigs (Fudgy with black/white fur and Cookie beige/white). I had tried about 7 types of hay over the last few months including second cut, third cut, USA / UK grown etc. After a a few days of eating normal amounts, they would leave huge quantities. I kept having to throw bags of hay away and trying new varieties as they would near refuse to eat the hay. It was a nightmare, they even started losing weight! I thought if this Oxbow variety of hay/grass doesn't work then it is off to the vets as it was becoming such an issue.The moment I gave it to Fudgy and Cookie they devoured it, in a way they had never done before. It smells wonderful (like tea leaves). I couldn't believe it but, I thought they may stop eating later as they had done previously. However, they just keep eating the hay with no issues! I am having to refill their haystacks about 3 times a day which was unheard of before. Over the moon, as they have put their lost weight back on and are now well over that weight (nearly 700g). They waste hardly any straw every single day.Can't recommend this variety enough. Thank you very much to Oxbow for providing such amazing quality for my 2 picky pigs - I will be ordering this variety for many years to come!PLEASE NOTE - this review (although glowing!) is not sponsored at all - honest review of personal experience.

Excellent hay for guinea pigs
Excellent quality hay and my guinea pigs love it!Also, I have been battling ringworm with my guinea pigs during the past 18 months. I tried them with every oral/dip medication the vets recommended and prescribed. However, a guinea pig expert recommended that I change their hay to Oxbow as although more expensive, it has been heat treated to kill the bugs/fungus in order to be accepted through UK customs as it's imported from the USA. Once I changed them over to Oxbow hay, the ringworm disappeared immediately. Amazing.

Seventh heaven hay alert!! As recommended by my guinea pig...
Great price and quick delivery, for a product LOVED by my delightful guinea pig boar.....he chomps away, jaws going at it like a typewriter, I donβt blame him as it smells so green and fresh when I get a clump out of the pack and place in his cage....he even loves lying in it for several snoozes throughout his day. Must be like lying on a cloud of pure hay nirvana.....

Most farmers will let the grass, timothy, alfalfa hay cure in the field in rows to be baled when dry. Sometimes they rake it up into piles and leave it loose to finish drying. As far as vitamins in the hay, I only feed Grass to my Guinea pigs with a side of Timothy, You need to be very careful about the calcium in rich hay. Too much can cause bladder and kidney stones. Grass is better for your pigs and their bodies digest it better."}}]}]}
