I use it as an electronic finder
Bought the 40mm variant. Light weight like a finder. Good clear multi coated objective lens. Lots of focus (length) adjustability. The base fits in a standard Synta finder shoe and has three point adjustment so it can be aligned with the optical axis of the main scope. I use this little guide scope with an astro camera to plate solve to align my mount with the stars in the sky an electronic finder if you will. I like Svbony products. They are affordably priced, good build quality and durable performance. I would recommend.

Nice view finder
Easy to use. Made really well. Can find objects a lot easier. Fits perfectly on my scope and easy to align

Great scope bad mounting
The scope itself and the rings are solid equipment and have a bit of weight so you know nothing will be flexing when you are guiding your mount. The mount that it comes with is a bit of a joke for a guide scope this size and weight. The base is too tall with a tiny foot that would make for the possibility of flexure that would affect your guiding. It should come with a lower profile longer mounting option with an optional riser block instead of a long stock.

Adjustable guidscope mount unlike 30 mm version.
This 40mm guidescope is much better than the 30mm version which I also own. It can take extender rings to make it most convenient for backfocus using either eyepiece or guide camera. It is compact which is an asset. The feature I am most happy with is that the holder for the scope permits the aim point to be adjusted. The 30mm version has two large thumbscrews but they only hold the guidescope, it is not adjustable. The extra aperture and longer focal length are also nice. I much recommend the 40mm version over the 30mm version

More Than Just a Guidescope
Excellent scope; I don't even use it for guiding, I actually use it on a tracking mount for full-disk H-alpha solar imaging matching the sensor of the ZWO ASI 174MM with outstanding image results.

Great value.
Similar to other guide scopes but less expensive. It guides my mount with sub-arcsecond accuracy. The mount rings allow easy adjustment. Light weight and no flexure as scope changes position.

Exactly what I wanted
I got a camera, and could only get partial moon views through it when using my Mak, or even a 100 APO only got a portion of it. Trying extenders cost me focus and quality, so I thought I would try using a guide scope for the camera. It works GREAT! The moon is out of my view now, but the "mountain test" I do shows I will be able to get the whole moon in a very nice view with the camera/guide scope setup. Plus, I can use my eyepiece at the same time. Sweeeeeet. Update: I ordered a 12.5 reticle eyepiece so that I don't have to switch from my finder scope to the 'camera scope'. Works like a CHARM, I just swap the eyepiece for the camera when I'm ready to shoot. Helical focuser has a wide range and works great for both applications.

Make sure you get a brand new unit and factory sealed.
I got a used unit, very poorly packed.
