Nice addition to my computer systems. Acts like a docking station with plenty of ports to use, Newer computer systems don't come with optical drives. Great deal on the cost of the unit as well.

Disk drive arrived with a short non attached USB A to C cable. Permanently attached is a USB 3A / C cable. This connects to the computing device (PC, Mac, laptop). The transfer / power cable is extremely short. Worked OK for the laptop, but would not work in my PC use. My PC (Minis Forum) is mounted behind my monitor making termination very difficult. I purchased a AINOPE USB C Extension Cable 6.6FT, 20Gbps/240W USB3.2 Type C Extender Cord to resolve this issue. Works like a charm. I have a clear desk, with the DVD drive now sitting on the monitor shelve where I can connect to my PC or my laptop without problem. I had 10 old DVD's of images that were being stored as backup media, but had no way to retrieve the data till now. I was able to transfer the images to another media, thanks to the drive and the cable.Reading a DVD with 2.6 GB of data, I was able to complete the transfer of 35753 files to my laptop with a Crucial BX500 2TB 3D NAND SATA 2.5-Inch Internal SSD in 61 minutes.The additional ports for the USB hub show up in explorer but I have not tested the capabilities of the hub.All in all I am well pleased with the results from the DVD drive, extension cable and the SSD.

This is a good player, however the cord to plug into the computer is very short. It might work for the laptops but I have a tower and it barely plugs into there to be able to sit on top of the tower. The instructions say not to use a hub, so I didn't. Then you have to climb under the desk to insert or take the disk out. I have it plugged into the socket and not powered by the computer. The other issue is it is not easy to use to get the tray opened. At one point I had to unplug the player and plug into a lap top to get the disk that was in it out! It did serve the purpose of being able to install the programs onto the computer but with that one hiccup! I have not tried to write with it but will. It was a good price and it is portable. I do recommend it.

I got a new computer and wanted to download some software I had on a cd and this worked perfectly. It was easy to attach and I had no problems with it.

Garbage. I bought this in June. It was used probably not even a dozen times and it’s already stopped working. I can’t return it as the return window closed July 14. Very unhappy.Update: the seller reached out and is going to send a replacement unit. Pretty smooth interaction with the seller. Quick and efficient.

The customer service is horrible and so is the product! My computer recognizes the DVD Drive but it doesn’t work, it doesn’t play. I can’t contact support directly, I have to go through Amazon first then they send my problem to the seller. To get a response takes 1 day and I have to go though Amazon messages to get to my response. What a hassle! I have sent 2 messages and the seller can’t tell me what to do. I am not sending a 3rd message, I am done. Terrible customer service and support!!! I should be able to talk to the seller myself but they don’t have it setup that way. I will NEVER buy anything again from the seller and I suggest you don’t either!
