Pflueger Trion Spinning Fishing Reel

Very nice reel and about the right size for medium to large fresh water fish like big browns, lakers, pike, and bass. Mine runs really smooth with 10lb stren mono on a 6'6" medium action Ugly Stick. Balances nice and easy casting. Catch pike all day long. This set up would be too heavy for most trout fishing and smaller bass or pan fish. I own a selection of rod and reels sets for different types of fishing and various conditions. The reels range from Shimano, Pflueger, Okuma, to DAM Quick. So i have some range of reference. This is one of two larger spinning reels that I own and I really like fishing with it. Remember modern light weight spinning reels are more fragile (as are rods) so not for dropping on rocks, throwing in the bilge of your boat or stuffing carelessly into the trunk of your car. Most rods and reels are damaged during transport and storage not use. My experience is 60 years of fresh water fishing (not salt water). Good luck!

This is my second Trion20. Damaged my 1st when I took a hard fall against a rock while fishing. Still managed to land the fish.These are great little reels. Smooth casting& retrieve. Great drag setting. All around perfect set up for my fishing needs. I mainly use it for trout, but it does great on panfish also. My original set up was T20 on 5.5ft pflueger ultra-light rod. I’ve since switched to a Daiwa Presso 6ft ultra light 4 piece pack rod. It is AWESOME! I would recommend this reel to anyone and do any chance I get. I’ve converted most of my fishing buddies over to either the Trion20 or 25. Attached pictures are of my biggest trout on the plueger and my current set up.

Thought I had a lemon with stripped threads at first. Remove the cap opposite side of handle, insert handle as far as it will go, then screw the handle inward, attach the cap to lock it in place.Also the reverse switch is at the bottom rear of reel, on / off. I thought Shimano made smooth reels, this brand knocks it out of the park. Smooth sailing and smooth retrieving! Gotta go, gotta go fishing.... later!

Works like a dream for ice fishing. After reading reviews it was mixed between this reel and the Shimano counterpart (which I already have). So I decided to try the Pflueger Trion and give my opinion. I like it just as much as the Shimano. It handled a few 20" trout this winter through the ice. Everything seemed to work great. The drag was smooth, as was the reeling when fighting the fish. I really like this little reel and would definitely put it on another ice rod.

I like this little reel and think it is the best bang for the buck at this price range. I use this on a 6'6" ultra light trout rod and it balances and performs excellently. Came lubed and I always check on a new reel. I do always lube the bail arm hinge points and the line roller also the spool shaft before first use and after every few fishing trips. The finish on this reel was excellent and more than I expected. I may try the 40 or 50 size in the Trion series for a heavy Catfish and Lake trout rod. People need to size the reels they buy to the rod and fish they are after. Big fish equal big reel and heavier weight.

What can you say besides the best Reel for the money when it comes to the trion, I was not looking to spend a lot yet get the quality from a name brand i trust like pflueger and they have done well with this reel, This is the second one i've owned, the first one was for my salmon rod and it's done a great job holding up to salmon ripping threw the drag and this one is for one of my spare bass rods and it makes me love that rod and reel that much better, I trust the name pflueger and trust this ion to hold up for a long time.

Great reels! I have the 20 and 30. The 20 is spooled with 4lb, on a 5' rod and works great for small trout to medium size bass. The 30 is spooled with 6lb, on a 6' rod and is used in rivers, ponds and lakes. I've taken large bass and even a 23" salmon with the 30. They release line smoothly, and retrieve at a good speed. Best reel you will find for the price.

Its a very good reel for a reasonable price, does everything a reel at twice the price does.I use this reel on my St.Croix walleye rod and a jig and a minnow, perfect set-up for Canadian walleye fishing.I think this reel comes in 3 different sizes so you can cover many different types of fishing.Fisherman

I bought this reel to replace the piece of junk reel that came on a $15 walmart rod and reel combo. The rod was good but the reel felt like it was broken. My wife has a lady Trion rod and reel combo and I borrowed her reel to try and really liked it. The Trion will handle braided line okay, but I found I got random tangles and switched to 8 lbs test monofilament. I caught many fish, pike and walleye with this setup and no tangles with the monofilament. Drag works very nice and the reel is butter smooth. Comparible to my president 10 bearing reel. My only regret is not getting the 35 size reel but the 30 is working well so far. The 35 size might have had a bit better cranking for heavier fish, but the lake I fish in has fish that top out in the 8 lb size anyways so it works. I wish that Pflueger would offer this reel in more colors then just silver but overall satisfied with my purchase. On a side note, I find I still get tangles with braid on my president reel which is rated for braid, so it's almost the same reel in my opinion for almost half the price.

Great bang for the buck. I own reels many times more expensive than this but to get the job done smoothly and for a good price this is your reel.
