Great product.
Nice to work with and easy to finish.

Came about 1/4 too short on the short side. Good steel though
Got it for a set of bowie knives and I didn't want to order $200 worth of steel to justify shipping (njsb anyone?). Cut a test piece for heat treatment, good grain structure, fracture pattern is small, hardened up above 65.So in other words it's good high carbon steel. Always check your steel from Amazon, I've gotten a couple mild steel bars sold as 1095.

first time - easy to cut
go the order, drew up my profiles, 4 1/2 cut off and bam, off to heat treat. was worried it didn't feel annealed with teh file, figured it was due to the cutting methods, and worked well. had blanks cut in 30 mins. wish they made thicker stock in their 1095, like .25, .38...

SELLER HAS POOR COMMUNICATION SKILLS
seller cuts blanks out on a plasma machine and probably spays with water in order to remove it off the machine by hand. with that being said, it hardens the edges of the steel and wreaks havoc on band saw blades when cutting profiles of knives. I have a 400 dollar band saw too, not a wimpy one. I used 20 dollars worth of band saw blades to cut knives off of a 25 dollar piece of steel. that's not viable at all. when i contacted the seller i never even got a response. Not to mention this alleged 1095 won't harden with oil or water and out of all the knives I've made I've NEVER encountered this issue.
