I don't know about the MSRP.
I'm going to start off by saying I don't have this vacuum, but when I went to the Emer USA website, the MSRP for this vacuum was a LOT less according to Emer USA. I don't know why it is so much less than the MSRP everywhere else(maybe it has dropped recently), but it would be prudent for a consumer to check the company's website first before buying. As of the time I'm typing this, the Emer USA's website has a 70% smaller MSRP. I usually don't write price reviews, but this one was so significant at the time, I felt someone needed to point it out.

Quirky but worth it!
I just received this vacuum from another site with free shipping for under $100. Yes, the bags require some dexterity to put in, but they fit fine, and they only cost about $2.50 each (10 for $25 online). Plus they're huge--a gallon and a half! It will take forever to go through them.Regarding the price, I think I read somewhere that this model is being discontinued, which is why the price is so low. But since Emer is still in business, I'm hoping it won't be a problem to continue to get bags and other items like filters online. So, to sum up, crazy good price (if you pay around $100 like I did) for an awesome European vacuum that is super quiet--no louder than the sound of a speaking voice. Really! Make no mistake, this is a great product. When was the last time you saw a vacuum with a ten year warranty?!PROS: Lightweight, quiet, long cord, and huge bags. Plus the power head shuts off automatically in the upright position for using the tools.CONS: Quirky bag installation, quirky position of the lower cord holder, quirky styling. Plus, it's probably not the best for very deep pile carpet as the power head is relatively light with no height adjustment to dig into the fibers.

Great Vacuum but Pricy Bags
I purchased the Emer Hercules Vacuum from MidnightBox.Com for $110.00. This vacuum has a very high MSRP around a $1000 but that is absurd. I paid $109 with shipping for mine. This is really a very good vacuum for a $110.The bags are pricy. Most of the manufacturer's bags seem to cost around $5.00 to $7.00 each. I found a source on EBAY that sells a generic bag that fits for $3.00 each. [...] Their price is $23.99 for a 10 pack plus $5.20 for shipping. I am handicapped and can't use it, but my Senior Companion raves about this vacuum. It's liteweight, does'nt stink, easy to manuever, can easily get under the couch and bed, and has very strong suction. The only drawback is the cost of the bags but that is due primarily due to its double HEPA filering system that eliminates all pollens and dust. If this is the type of vacuum you want, then search the net and you will find it for less than $150.00. Here is a list of its features. Hope this helps and have a great day.Emer Hercules Upright Vacuum Cleaner features:Durable and Dependable - The rugged construction of the Hercules ensures long operating life 10 Years warranty on the motor. worst customer service ever
I purchased the Hercules In Sept 2009 to replace a Dyson. What a mistake!!!!! The bags do not fit properly, and at a cost of about $4.00 a pop its tought to ruin 2 or three of them before you find one that semi-works. I have been trying to contact the Company, but no one answers the phone, nor do they return your calls. I am now stuck with an over priced piece of junk, and no way of getting any help. The closest warranty repair is 100 miles away. BEWARE THIS ITEM IS A RIP-OFF!!!!
