Tomkas Small Dog Sling Carrier - Classic Pocket & Classic Strap - for 3-10 lbs Pets(Black)

The media could not be loaded. This is one of those Amazon purchases where I don’t understand how it could cost so little. Just the fabric to make this would cost more than the cost of this sling. Even though the shoulder strap is not adjustable, I find that more comfortable across my shoulder. I am 5 foot 4, and Because I have a large belly right now, the area in which the dog lies is a little bit resting high on my belly instead of flat against my side. For that reason, obese or large bosomed people might find the strap short or feel it a little bit small, but the construction is excellent and the ability to move it to different parts of your upper body and across the back of your shoulders is manageable because the strap is wide and comfortable. The sling part itself is extremely well-made. The lining is smooth and the little toes and toenails can’t get caught on the totally smooth lining fabric because it cannot snag. That was an extremely thoughtful thing to do. I love that Somebody realized that they don’t want any little toes and toenails getting damaged or hurt because then the dogs will not want to sit in the carrier, and that they took the time to line this so beautifully so that the outside is soft, discreet cotton, and the inside is slippery and cool and safe. I thought the snaps were a nice touch, there are three plastic snaps that go across the top of the carrier to keep the dog safe inside, but there is enough room for the dog to poke their head out of one of the openings and still not fall out. The reason why these plastic snaps are so thoughtful is they make very little noise, unlike the Velcro that is used for many carriers, which is terrifyingly loud and scary for dogs to hear so close to their heads. The fact that the snaps are plastic may or may not make them more durable, I don’t know, but They certainly won’t rust when you wash it. And they don’t have any sharp edges. They make the carrier very easy to open and close. You can glance down and see your pet very easily even if they’re lying down at the bottom. I love that There is a phone pocket! You can’t even buy a phone carrier for this price. So in some ways you’re getting a phone carrier with a free dog carrier attached lol. The fabric is so soft, which is very important for me because I have a nerve condition and I cannot stand fabrics that itch or are artificial. This is a soft light gray cotton. It is not stretchy, which actually makes it sturdier and less likely to dig into your back or shoulder and more likely to sit properly. I washed it in cold water today and let it air dry, it dried very quickly and it did not shrink. It is very lightweight which is super important because I am elderly, and cannot carry any weight other than my dog. I love this dog carrier and I never feel like I love what I get from Amazon it’s either tolerable or I accept it or I just give it away. This surprised me and made me want to share. By the way, my dog is a two-year-old 5 1/2 pound Chihuahua. I got the small. I don’t know if I had gotten a larger size if the strap would’ve been longer. Perhaps only the carrying part would have been larger. Depending on your dog’s age and personality, that will determine how comfortable they are lying in the sling, but as soon as you start moving, whether or not you’re cleaning the kitchen , and you don’t want to leave them when they’re feeling sick, or they’re just a baby, or you just need the comfort of a warm animal against your body, this is definitely the carrier to get. I’ve wasted money on other things, this is a purchase I’m finally proud of. I hope it works for you too. This is my fourth dog carrier and the only one i am keeping. The others were too cumbersome, or the dog could not lie down at the bottom and sleep, or the angle was wrong, and they were all more expensive! Thank you to the company for thinking of all the details and making this so affordable. The only suggestion I would make for improvement is to not sew that care tag that all fabric items have into the bottom of the lining. It’s visually discreet because it’s on the inside however, it doesn’t feel soft. I wish that it had been sown elsewhere so that it has no contact with my animal’s body. And lastly, this carrier does not have that awful chemical smell that so many things have. It has no smell at all. I think this is gonna last the lifetime of my pet, and I hope that’s a very long time. Happy snuggly days ahead to us all! 🙂 UPDATE: I found that after washing this carrier, the tag inside was soft. No longer stiff. And I attached a video so you can see I took my guy whale watching with me and it was perfect. I forgot i had it on. I stood with him for 4 hours on the windy boat and he was fine the whole time inside. (Ok watch the video, maybe we won’t go again lol.)

My mini dachshund loves this carrier. She is a bit older and only has one eye. We wanted to take her on walks with our other pup, but she couldn't make the trip without needing carried. At 13 pounds she is fairly long and this over the shoulder is perfect. She is comfortable and the material is strong. There is plenty of extra features too boot. The quality of this carries is fantastic, with comfortable padding on the shoulder. An extra shoulder pad is also included. The fact that there is a pocket makes carrying my car keys super easy. I also include a few doggie doo doo bags and treats in this pocket.Today she fell asleep in the carrier on our walk. That just tells me she is comfortable. We had another, much more expensive back pack variety carrier and she hated being completely upright.Fantastic price and now we can take family walks and both pups can come along.

This is really cute but the shoulder strap is longer than it appears in the photo so it actually hangs down to your hip/ front of the thigh which can make it a bit difficult to walk comfortably. The snaps are nice and the little leash on it is convenient to help keep the puppers in should they want to jump out for any reason. Our 9lb shorkiepoo loves being carried around in this and our chihuahua doesn’t mind it much either.

It’s good and works but don’t get if your dogs over 8 pounds, my dog is 10-12 pounds and he’s small so I thought it would work but it felt like he was 20 pounds as I put him in this😂 other than that the quality is good and the strap is thick and wide, it’s also comfortable, aside from the fact my dog felt heavy. It was sturdy and keeps your dog comfortable and just sitting in it like a pouch. The appearance and color was as shown in the picture, I recommend if your dog is under 8 pounds.

I purchased this originally for my senior chihuahua, but she did not like it. She was 5-6 pounds at the time- I wouldn’t recommend it for an older picky dog, it was easier to carry her propped on my shoulder with one hand.I am NOW using it with my new chihuahua puppy. It is helpful so you have one hand free, and you know they are clipped into it… but I still feel the need to have one hand on the pouch. My chihuahua puppy is currently 4 pounds, very small, and I wear it around my neck, so she is in the front. It is sturdy enough your dog is not going to fall out of it, but if they want to get out, they probably could without one hand on it. My pup peed in it the first time I took her out in it. It did not leak through. With a puppy like mine, I would suggest having a second one for backup in this case.There are a lot of these on Amazon, as low as $9.99 that are the same (same color, same plaid lining) I overpaid buying this one. There isn’t anything special about it or safer feeling.I do recommend the product vs no product- but the strap is so thick and not having a flat bottom seems so awkward for both of my dogs bodies. It works if you’re in a pinch- but by no means does it feel natural, easy or comfortable for me or either dog I have tried it with. Different heights from strap adjustment and position on the body has not made a difference. I will still use it until I splurge on something else to try - but don’t get ripped off when they have the same product on here for much less like I did.

This sling worked great. I got it so I could take my dog out when we left the rental house as leaving her alone might not have been a good plan. My 5 pound Chihuahua fit perfectly. She got into it with minimal irritation, as a Chihuahua would, and settled in nicely and actually fell asleep. Being as soft as it is, it worked better than the firmer carriers (for my small dog). You do need to hold on gently with one arm as the dog could easily tip out. However, sitting at a table, I was able to use two hands off and on easily.
