Remote Control not included
The brochure gives the impression that the fire has a remote control function, it has but it is an optional extra, and not normally supplied.very misleading, should be made clear from the start.

It's getting' HOT in here!
I have to give this fire 5 stars straight away just for the heat output alone. For anyone that is stuck with a pre cast flue this is the best fire you can get for the money. It's simply awesome!!We have a medium sized 'open' dining and living room and the fire manages to maintain the temperature even on cold evenings.Sadly like all gas fires of this design it doesn't take long before the glass mists up and removing it all is impossible. A gas man told me all glass fronted fires do this. So be warned it will mist up just in a couple of months of use. Even when you clean it with cream cleaner and a wet cloth it will return back in a month or so.The guarantee is 7 years which is great, but there is a catch. Flavel's rule is that you have to get the fire serviced every year and have the thermo coupling changed as well for them to consider covering the warranty. This is a bit naughty as it bumps up the servicing cost dramatically. When you purchase the fire from new it will smell badly for ages as it burns off the protective chemical layers on the metal hood. The quickest way is to keep the fire on full (important) for a few hours to burn it off and open a window to let the fumes out. This process does takes a while though and may even take a few days to totally eradicate the smell. So for all its little snags I still totally recommend this fire for those cold dark nights.
