The best sandals a big guy can get
I am 46, and until a couple of years ago I hated "flip-flops" mostly because of how uncomfortable they feel between your 1st and 2nd toes, and how badly my feet would start to hurt after only half an hour of walking in them. I am also a big guy -- 6'2", 265lbs -- with flat feet. Add to that the bone spurs in my feet and the tendency to get plantar faciitis.Flip-flops, sandals, thongs, slippers -- whatever you call them where you're from -- were definitely not for me. That is, until I happened across these sandals at a local , trendy shoe retailer. These sandals are amazing. They are designed and made by a company which makes, of all things, orthotics. They support my weight and compensate for my flat feet like no other sandal I have ever tried. Over time, they form to your feet, like any good orthotic should, making them so comfortable you forget you're wearing them. And I never even feel the strap between my toes, it is so well designed. These sandals are so comfortable and stable that I wear them constantly throughout the warm seasons. I buy two pair each spring, one for getting dirty working in the garden and one for cruising around the house or walking the shoppes. To me, they are well worth the price. I can even comfortable drive a car with a manual transmission wearing them...something I can't do while wearing any other sandal. Another test is how long can you stand in a pair of sandals before your feet start to hurt...in these, I have not found a maximum yet. In other sandals, it is something between 15 and 30 minutes.I have tried a couple other branded sandals with arch support, but they never got comfortable. So I came back to these. I only hope that they never stop making them.

Spenco vs. Sole
I bought these Spenco flip flops at the same time that I also received a pair of Sole flip flops as a gift. My podiatrist told me that if I want to wear flip flops, I need to spend the money to buy quality ones that have good arch support. (Any other foot health source will tell you the same thing.) Both of these flips are approved by the American Podiatric Medical Association and have great arch support. Also both mold themselves to your foot and are very comfortable. The big difference is that the Spenco gives you more of a barefoot, close-to-the-earth feel, while the Sole has a lot more cushion to it. I'm lucky to have both but the Sole does have more of a "foot pamper" feel while the Spenco feels more "athletic." The other difference I found is that the band that goes between the toes in the Spenco is a standard one, and I found it to take a lot getting used to, while the band in the Sole is sewn together to be more rounded and not rubbing against the insides of my toes (on my pair at least--online Amazon photos show the Sole bands to be the same type as the Spenco). I solved this problem on the Spenco by simply sewing the bands so as to make each one more like a pipe, which made a big difference in terms of foot comfort. The Sole costs about $20 more, according to Amazon prices. If you are concerned about price, you can't go wrong with the Spenco flip flops. If you want a more "bouncy" feel and don't mind spending the extra money, the Soles are a great sandal.

Awesome fit and comfort
Love the fit and comfort of this sandal. It's my 5th pair. I was disappointed they changed the outsole from rubber to foam. If I could get a rubber sole one, I'd be pumped. Alas...

Best shoes ever
I really needed a size 11 women's, but due to a glitch in the Amazon system, I kept getting a size 11 men's! The company that sells them was great and, at no charge to me, kept sending shoes back and forth to try to fit them to me!! I ended up with two pair of size 10 women's and finally called it quits! It was close enough, although they are a little snug. These are the best shoes ever! They are Orthopedic flip flops oh, so my feet don't pronate in and my bunions do not get worse! it's also great for my back. My first pair, which I still have, has lasted me almost five years, and they're getting a little raggedy. I wanted to get some new ones so I could wear them to church, and my other new pair I'm going to bling up for special occasions! LOL

These are men's not women's
These are listed as women's but are actually men's. Please know that when ordering your size. But the sandals are great quality. It's my second pair. The first pair lasted about 8 years.
