As a classical guitar tutor, I've been fitting these strings for a few years now, since their release. These are basically the old alliance trebles with new improved basses.The trebles themselves are a composite material, much cleaner than nylon, and closer to the sound of the old gut strings. The bass strings are deep and resonant, and seem to reach their stretch-point much faster than the old alliance ones. Having tried most strings on the market, I've found these give the best sound for cedar top guitars, especially when playing Spanish pieces such as Tarrega. Just remember, all classical guitar strings take a few days before they stop going out of tune.

The first Alliance string is very thin and can require a knot to prevent slippage. I have never had any break though as reported in a previous review. However i have come the conclusion that the sound of this first string is not to my liking and use another make. 2nd and 3rd are far better. The bass strings are fine. This is based on several years of experience, not just a single purchase. Have received good reports on the Cantiga Cristal sets and await delivery.

Bought these because I love the trebles on the 540R but needed more base. This combination delivered as advertised.Highly Reccomend.
