Good lists for CKD
I was able to come with some good ideas of things to feed my Stage 4 CKD husband, and what not to feed him.

Okay for some foods, not for others
I found this book to be a helpful guide for some foods, but very confusing for others. The nutrient information for each section lists phosphorus, potassium and sodium per 100 grams (100 grams= approx. 3.3 ounces of food). This is helpful for foods such as cereal, meats, vegetables, etc. But listing spices and herbs by weight (100 grams), just doesn't work. I also found the 'fast food' section somewhat helpful, but then again, when you order fast food you never get a 3.3 oz serving (who would ever know what how much 100 grams is unless they brought a scale to the restaurant). The intent of the book is good but the execution of some sections of the book leave a lot to be desired.

The sample sizes are 100g
I have to post this review to correct a common complaint among other reviews: the beginning of the book clearly states that all nutrient values are based on a 100g sample size. All values may then be be easily converted to relative percentages if you like.

Diet details for CKD
My husband has CKD. This book was very helpful in managing his diet restrictions. The doctor told us - don’t know what you read but you are on the right track. Highly recommended

Disappointing book
75% of the book is simply a list of foods and their sodium, potassium, and phosphorus content. The rest is basically the same info that’s readily available online.

Very informative book, really good information
This book has given me a head's up on a lot of information I was trying to find online. I was recently diagnosed with stage 3 CKD and became very aware I need to watch my potassium, phosphorus sodium and protein intakes. This book takes all the guesswork out of it. Serves my purpose very well.
