This is not 100% horsetail herb – it also contains a fair amount of straw.
Horsetail herb contains silica, which the body can easily transform into calcium, if it needs to. If one wants to be sure of having an adequate intake of calcium, the body prefers this vegetable source rather than a mineral source, such as powdered chalk!I used to pick my own horsetail as it grew wild near where I used to live. I would rinse it, hang it out on a line to dry in the sun or in a well-aired room, then cut it and store it. There is no reason for it to be mixed with straw.
