Q: How long is the strap?

Hello, thanks for forwarding your question. The strap measures about 38 inches, when fully extended, from the end of the bottom clip to the beginning of the top clip where it attaches to the pack. It is adjustable so you can make it shorter if you prefer.

Q: How many compartments does it have?

Not enough. I swapped mine back for my backpack. Uncomfortable and difficult to access things in it
