Small bento box is healthier and eco-friendly
Plastic lunch boxes are not bio-degradable and go to the landfill when we're done with them. And plastic is a non-sterile material that germs and mold can grow on, so you definitely won't keep your plastic lunch box forever. A bento box lasts a very long time and is an eco-friendly alternative. Just remember that it's metal so you cannot microwave it. However, you can put it in the dishwasher to clean it. And be aware that this box is relatively small compared to most plastic lunch box sizes. The size as I measure it at the bottom interior is 6" L x 4.5" W x 2" H and there is a metal divider so that the smallest compartment can be sized down to a length of slightly more than 1.7" with the remaining 4.3" allocated to the other half. Or you can just pull the metal divider out and not use it.I like to put hot rice and fish in mine because I'm part Asian and that's healthy comfort food for me. It stays somewhat lukewarm by the time I eat lunch. For an extra treat I sometimes add avocado slices. It's my simple version of a Poke bowl. You can also put in tofu or tempeh and sliced veggies and refrigerate the box if you want cold items like that for lunch. The seal on this box is definitely leak proof so I could put salad and dressing in it if I wanted.Have a sustainable and healthy meal with this small bento box. It's small, but consider it good portion control enforcement. :)

Pretty poorly made
Similar to what other reviewers have said, these are not super well made and the hinges do easily fall off with normal use. I have lots two hinges from a couple of my containers now. It’s a bummer, but they are still pretty decent lunch boxes without.

Retro Classic Steel Bento Box
Don’t let the header fool you: while this is a superbly made leakproof bento box, it can be used for many other worthwhile purposes. The tight-sealing, non-scratching side clips, combined with an inside silicone seal on the lid, will keep your food fresher than most of those supermarket plastic containers. There is also an adjustable steel divider, so you can have two types of food in the box. It is dishwasher and oven safe and one of the neat things about it is that you can toss it in the oven right from the freezer – after removing the lid, of course.Because this thing is leakproof, it’s also waterproof and can be used to store and protect documents or other crucial materials. I bought it specifically for use in my earthquake emergency go bag to put my personal stuff inside. When I was still fishing, I would have used it for lures; because it’s airtight, it floats! Note: I did not test how much weight you could store in it before it sinks. This is a great looking stainless steel box that works as a lunch or snack box, a small waterproof container for camping or other outdoor activities or to hold momentos, craft supplies or other items. The stainless steel is pretty thick; it keeps things cold and it should take a lot of abuse. Totally recommended.Fair Warning: The online listing shows three nesting bento boxes stacked up on each other. This is not accurate as you only get ONE bento box.

Buyer beware
My kid used it for 2 weeks before the latch broke off. The customer support page is a Google docs form that looked pretty shady. I guess you get what you pay for.

Very Nice Construction
The construction is great. Can't say anything wrong about it. It's made old-school overkill, and can last a life-time.My problem, and why the lower review is; the size listed vs the actual size.Listed Size: W5in x L6.93in x H2.28inActual Size: W4.6in x L6.05in x H1.85inTo get that listed size, I'd have to use the outermost extremes that I could measure. In length that would be measuring from outer edge of one clasp to outer edge of the other clasp. Height & width, using the extremities of the lid. Therefore, as far as a food storage for leftovers or a lunch, it's too small. You're not going to get much more into it than a snack. And since the seal (like all the rest of the construction) is super-good, I'll be using it to store my emergency candies (I'm diabetic).

Great for my daughter in daycare
My daughter is a bit of a clutz and has destroyed a could of the plastic lunch boxes we have sent so I got her this one. It came packaged just fine with no defects that I could see. Getting it out you get the metal box with a divider. You can move the divider back and forth for how big of portions you want. I was able to fit some cut-up pizza and some pineapples in there for her and it all fit just fine. The divider isn't waterproof so be cognizant of that some pineapple just made it over to her pizza. After she used it I was able to just throw it in the dishwasher and it came out clean. All in all, I like this for her and hopefully it lasts a bit longer than some of her old food containers.

Smaller than I'd imagined, so check the specs before buying
If you order this, you will want to pay attention to its dimensions because it's fairly small. I have another metal bento box (from Dash) that can fit half of a tortilla roll-up sandwich width-wise. However, I have to cut the sandwich into fourths to put get it to fit into this one. I was also hoping that the division between the two sides was solid. While I appreciate that it can move and has a lip on one side, you can't put anything with any wetness on one side and expect items on the other side to stay dry because everything essential shares the same floor with a divider that isn't tight to the floor. Everything is fine; you just have to temper your expectations.I do like that there aren't tons of parts to wash -- just the bottom and the lid. It's also easy for my pre-teen daughter to open and close. I'm not sure how easy it would be for an elementary-school-age child though. It seems like it's going to be sturdy and useful for years to come.
