SIMPLY AMAZING SPEEDS FROM THIS DRIVE!
This drive is capable of really stupendous and consistent write speeds. I tried a 32Gb Sandisk Extreme before this drive and that achieved 40Mb/s consistent write speeds. This drive writes consistently at 240Mb/s!! Wow, blown away. Compare that for speed (and value), this drive is £5 more than the Sandisk, it is 64 instead of 32Gb and writes at 240Mb/s instead of aroud 40Mb/s. True, a good 64Bb drive will always write faster than a good 32Gb drive, but the Sandisk was not even good. So evidently in buying the Sandisk you are paying for the name, as they say. Your choice. For anyone interested, here's how I achieved these speeds from the Lexar:Firstly, it must be fittted into a usb 3 port, (of course).Next, all drives appear to come formatted Fat, which in itself is slow, so presumably that is for maximum compatibility with all things usb. Probably not necessary for most folks nowadays. So, pop the drive into your usb port and back up the Lexar files already on the drive to your P.c. (if you are likely to want to use them afterwards). Then you can copy them back again if you wish.Next, right-click on 'my computer' and click on 'manage'. In the left hand column of the pane that will open, click on 'disk management' (under 'storage'). The pane will then display all the drives connected to your P.c., - including the Lexar. It has a hiddden 50Mb partition, so ignore that. Right-click on the Lexar Main partition, (59.64GB Fat) and select 'format'. Select NTFS from the 'file system' dropdown box and Uncheck the 'perform a quick format' box. Clich OK, and wait until the full format is completd, it takes a little while. After that, is completed, open 'control panel' (Windows 10), then open 'device manager' and select (expand) 'disk drives'. Right-click on the Lexar and select 'properties'. Now select the 'policies' tab and under 'removal policies', check the 'better performance' box. Then under 'write-caching policies', check the 'enable write caching on the device' box. NOTE: The aforementioned Sandisk drive is not a fast enough drive to enable this feature, - and Windows tells you so!! But that is the magic all done. Now restart your P.c.Select a large fle, or a folder with a large amount of files within it (I'm talking 3 Gb or more) and copy to your Lexar, watch it go! My P.c. is modern and the write speed will to some extent depend on the capability of the P.c. I expect, (processor and RAM), but it will be as good as is possible anyway. For people witout windows 10, the 'policies' tab is accessed from within 'my computer by right- clicking the relevant drive as I remember.Good speed everyone.

Very good but some way short of being excellent...
Generally a very good USB stick for the price band, taking into considerations my requirements to have data read and written in the fastest possible speed - maybe in my attempt to use external storage to complement my internal SSD. My rating loses one star because the transfer of multiple files is done at rather lower speeds than advertised, it may also be some sort of a glitch in speed tests, but what I do observe is that it is not e.g. possible to transfer 80gb worth of files in 4 minutes (making the calculation 80gb / (350 mb/sec) ). In terms of having to access written data though, read speeds are very high and this is where this USB stick is advantageous. Despite my 4 star rating I would recommend it.

More than ten times faster than my Sandisk
Just got a couple more Lexar 32 GB USB 3.0 flash drives via Amazon to make sure I keep multiple back ups of a book on Short-eared Owls I am writing. I used them to test the speed of copying of varying flash drives. Just to compare how long it takes to copy the 16.1 GB main book file (1404 items on it) from my fast and fairly new HP desktop. I formatted each flash drive before doing the copies, so they all started with no added data on them. And all were plugged into my PC via the same usb 3.0 port, one after the other. The results:Lexar 32 GB usb 3.0 4 minutesBytestor 32 GB usb 3.0 19 minutesBytestor 32 GB usb 2.0 32 minutesSandisk 64 GB usb 3.1 45 minutesThe Sandisk, the highest capacity and the most expensive, is even slower than the now very old Bytestor usb 2. The Sandisk default speeds seems to vary between 0 and 355 KB/s with short spells at up to around 30 MB/s. I have decided to try and return it as not fit for purpose. But there is no panel for returns for this item, which is now 11 months old, and rarely updated with my data due to its slow speed. I would have thought I was covered under the sale of goods act still, if not by Amazon’s own rules. So the Lexar comes our very well indeed. I have a good number of them now as I need some to take/send big Tiff files to and from my designer as well as for my multiple back ups. They look solid and reliable and I will stop wasting time and money with such as Sandisk from now onwards.

Worth the price for the speed
Bought this as I needed a higher capacity, faster drive for booting Linux from. I had considered a USB SSD but couldn't afford that and this actually works out pretty good value overall. I have not benchmarked it but in the same scenarios on my Windows 10 desktop and booting Linux Mint Mate, it is definitely faster than my 16GB Sandisk, but perhaps not setting the world on fire as the specs suggest. It is better made than my Sandisk with a solid feel. The only possible issue is its size, its pretty big and slightly wider than some but I haven't had a problem yet.

Killer looks and speed!!
After browsing virtually whole of the internet for the best USB flash drive I decided to buy Lexar's P20 64GB USB 3.0 drive and I am more then happy I did so.The product was delivered very promptly as per the Amazon prime standards. The packaging is very nice which makes it ideal for the gift purpose and comes with a little ring adaptor if you with to put the drive in your key chain so make sure it always is with you and ready to use.The look of the drive is very high class. The glossy black finish looks absolutely fabulous and is solidly built. It does feel slightly heavy compared to the others because of the metal casing instead of flimsy plastic but it is not a big concern in my opinion. The real world (by that I mean file copy in windows 7 not the speed transfer testing software!) transfer speed was around 79-80 MBPS which is more then enough for me.Overall a very satisfying USB flash drive with both the superb looks and fast transfer speeds makes it a great buy!
