A Bit of Everything and More.
I've purchased several "Vitamin" books, ALL of which have been excellent. Vitamin C, concerning itself with Collage, is no different. Produced and collected by those who actually care about such things, you should expect no less. COLLAGE is a marvelous method for making Art 'on the cheap' as well as all the ranges after that including but not limited to digital images enhanced and assembled on a computer. Vitamin C doesn't stop there, of course, but asks questions like "When does 2 dimensional Art become Sculpture or Video?" (Hybrids in the making.) Using objects in 3d space to make photographs that evoke vast depths, architecture, dreams. Or creating a composite image that defies interpretation, so by default it becomes an example of "Dimension X." The understated power of Collage is in Photography: That which makes drawing or painting unnecessary with high-definition images ready for use.Breaking down the contents there seem to be 2 distinct types: Compositions that simplify to near minimal reduction, and those that buzz with intensely-packed pieces or facets that you must swim in to catch the experience. There's no good or bad here, just what might hit you with a Resonance, and the rush when it does.A Fantastic Collection, that a single look-thru barely dents.(Like the other Vitamin books, it goes further than you thought it could.)A keeper for your Art Reference and Inspiration Library! (10"x 11.5" -305 pages with Index)
