I now have very sharp knives.
I've bought two of these type sharpening stones. I liked this one better because it has the flattening stone included with it. Do read the description though. The lady in the pictures has small hands. The stone itself is 7" x 2.5". The bamboo base and rubber "grommet" hold the stone in place well and my knives are extremely sharp.

Good sharpening stone for nicer knives.
This two-sided sharpening stone is great for good knives that need hand sharpening. While automatic knife sharpeners and pull-through style sharpeners are the most commonly seen methods these days, manual sharpening with sharpening stones is often recommended for nicer knives that benefit from a methodical and careful process. This stone has two sides, one coarser 1000 grit and a finer 6000 grit for finishing/polishing and getting a very clean edge. Relatively speaking, 1000 grit is pretty fine already so this stone would be best for knives that are already decently sharp and don't need major reworking or removal of metal. It comes with a bamboo base and a anti-slip insert to ensure stability and safety. The included angle guide is great for beginners that are just getting into using sharpening stones, I would recommend practicing and getting familiar with a cheaper knife first. After some work and getting the skill down, you can get great results and a razor sharp edge that cleanly cuts and passes the paper test. I'm practicing on some of my cheap knives and experimenting with smaller edge angles, it's been a good learning experience. Definitely recommended for knife aficionados and chefs that appreciate a fine edge.

Works great.
You have to put in the time. Watch a youtube video on how to use a Japanese style whetstone first. It takes at least two hours to properly sharpen a meat/vegetable knife, and the knife must be half decent quality to keep an edge. My kitchen knife is now ridiculously sharp. It shaves the hair off my arm.

Great Fine Grit Combo
Wetstones are the only way to go at the finer grits. These stones are among the best I’ve used. Plus the stone dresser keeps a nice smooth surface.

Nice looking. Well balanced knife
Nice looking. Well balanced knife. Poor quality however. Chopped chicken and blade chipped right away. No response from manufacturer after several email inquiries. Over rated. Don't buy.
