Brilliant design, genuinely silent
The Fluidmaster PRO75B side entry with Brass shank has very easy fitting and adjustment, and eventual servicing. Instructions are good; easily read and with clear diagrams, but they refer to the similar previous model 747 with the plastic shank. The plastic shank version is widely available from competitively priced DIY stores and builder’s merchants, this improved brass version is harder to find. For me the most important features are that1. The rigid fill tube does not collapse or block or rot.2. The captive float does not bounce!!3. Filling is almost silent. It has a simple twist/unclick bayonet style assembly to gain access to the diaphragm/seal (type 242MP071) and another for the flow restrictor, no tools needed after installation. The 1/2" BSP threaded brass 'shank' is slightly shorter than that of the Torbeck type it replaced, so some flex might be needed on the supply pipe. A fibre washer is NOT supplied and is required when fitting to a standard shouldered tap stub. There is also a taper inside the brass shank so it could be used with a compression fitting as well.It can suffer from lime-scale clogging the pin-valve and then water leaking from out the top, but if used in a softened water system should last for many years. The brass shank is much preferred for a mains pressure installation in a loft tank, it is much stronger than a plastic one and less likely to fracture or leak. After many years and many different valves including two versions of the Torbeck type and various arrangements of these with assorted cunningly modified floats in my loft storage tank, at last this one is genuinely silent and does not hammer in sympathy with the toilet cistern below while that fills from this tank. Now one can go to the loo in the middle of the night and not worry about waking up the rest of the house.

The V8 Hotrod of siphons
I hate plumbing, I can do it, but I hate it. Our toilet siphon packed up, and I got this to replace it. It did not disappoint, very clear instructions, and very quality feel. The brass shank made an easy seal of the supply and it's wide enough to take a couple of turns of PTFE if needed. The existing water supply grommet had plenty of life in it, finger-tight and quarter-turn with a spanner. Done. It comes supplied with two silicon washers inside and out of the cistern that lock the siphon in place and keeps it vertical.I would recommend having a go to estimate the float level before fitting. Depending on the cistern, access to the adjustment screw might be tricky. Again, the instructions are very clear on adjustment. The flow to fill the cistern is good, there is no scream or shunt and takes a couple of minutes. It's quiet too so would suit an ensuite.Best of all, it is entirely serviceable, and it can be adjusted for low-pressure supplies. It should last a long time. 30 minutes later, I have a working loo, and I have brownie points with the missus. Great job Flowmaster, very recommended.

Very easy to fit
Toilet cistern constantly overflowing and when it didn't, was noisy while filling and finished filling with a 'water hammer' that was reminiscent of the noise made by the Martian tripods in War of the Worlds! I hate plumbing jobs but fitting this was the easiest bit of plumbing I've ever done and took me 20-30 mins. Now the cistern fills quickly and silently, with no more water hammer. Adjustment of the float to get tthe right water level is very easy.Only fitted this 24 hours ago, hence only four stars because I can't vouch for durability yet.

A bit more expensive but you are buying a quality product
The media could not be loaded. My toilet have been leaking over the past week and since it is a concealed toilet cistern a quote of £100s have been given to us....I watched a few online video and decided to have a crack at it myself, if new cistern needed than we will have to get it fixed and paid the trades to do it. Luckily for us it was the old side entry valve with float which has failed, the water keep filling up the tank and the overflow direct the water into the bowl internally. It is a super easy fix and I browse amazon for a long while and decided to give Fluidmaster a go.Most of the cheap valves are of a plastic valve with a transparent plastic tube just like my old valve which failed. Since I am not paying trades to do it I decided to push the boat out and get the expensive parts. At £15 instead of the cheaper £7 I feel cheated at first which I shouldn't (come on £15 only). It worth every penny and this is whyMetal shank : much better connection couple with the water inletStrong float and lever system : looks like it is built to last compared with my old ones (in picture blue and white)Quiet fill : no splashing water and no flimsy plastic flopping around in the tankEasy to adjust tank level : use a screw driver to turn the shaft to adjust the float height£15 is very good Value for money, happy flushing !
