Good spider catcher
Very good for catching spiders and releasing outside (as long as the spider is sitting on a flat surface like floor or wall, and is not running around).

Wouldn't be without it.
Life saver for me, easy to pick up a spider or any insect, i.e. wasps or moths etc and put them outside without harming them, must be a flat surface though, no good if the spider is in a corner or an uneven surface. The idea is to twist the catcher and the lid falls down and traps the insect, but I find that it can catch the insects legs, so I just gently push it with my hand to avoid this. I noticed with some reviews that people are saying the trap door can slide open, but if you are holding it the right way up it's impossible. Its better than the glass and cardboard idea where you panic and card glass and spider is hurled up the garden lol. I have had one of these before with a longer handle, about half a mile would be good for me when it comes to spiders, this one's handle is shorter, or I would have given it five stars.

can catch insects without hurting them (if done carefully!)
great little gadget - can catch insects and set them free outside without fear(!) - be careful not to trap any legs or wings though - often present them as useful gifts - expensive for a bit of plastic but as long as you don't drop them or tread on them should last a good while

Flimsy and not long enough.
It’s ok for flies, wasps, etc. But it catches the legs of spiders or crane flies, so not so good there. It’s very flimsy so you have to be careful with it, but it hasn’t broken so perhaps stronger than it seems. It could do with being longer though. Not bad for the money. I will buy another one for my sister, so I think it’s ok.

Great solution for arachnophobics
I was given one of these as a present years ago and just decided to treat myself to an additional one so I can have one on each floor of the house. They work really well and allow me to deal with spiders from a fairly comfortable distance. I am scared of spiders but feel bad about killing them, so being able to put them outside is a good compromise. You do have to wait until the spider is on a flat surface, which causes a problem if they run behind a cupboard or something, but this works much better than the brush or vacuum spider catchers. My only problem with this particular product was that there were pictures of huge spiders on the box. Not the most helpful thing to put on a product which is surely mainly purchased by people who have a fear of spiders!!!
