Direct Replacement for JBL XTREME battery - easy to install - GREAT battery life - life saver!
For anyone out there up against the dreaded JBL Xtreme battery fiasco - this item is your savior. I faced the exact problem and had no idea what to do. After some online searching, I discovered this little diddy. Between this item and a couple of DIYs that are readily available on the interwebs, I managed to disassemble, install a new battery, and reassemble my Xtreme in well under an hour. If you can remove screws with a screwdriver, you can do this replacement. Make sure you have some double-sided tape or other adhesive to stick the battery in place so it doesn't jiggle around when you reassemble! If you have any questions, feel free to contact me and I'll help you through it.Being 5k mAh instead of 10k mAh like the OEM battery "supposedly" was, I'll admit that I was concerned with the potential battery life. I can't speak 100% intelligently on the subject but I can tell you this. Once installed, I turned on the JBL to make sure all was well before putting my tools away. All 5 white LED dots lit up, indicating that at least the unit thought the battery was near fully charged when it arrived at my house. My plan is now to run the battery down to 0% and then charge it all the way back to 100% (typical recommended procedure for new device battery). I've since used the device for over 4 hours - not only is the battery still not dead, but 4 LED dots illuminate when it powers on as we speak. From that, I'm confident that this will last 7-9 hours on a full charge at moderate volume. That's as good or better than my Xtreme ever got with the OEM.Cheers Mr./Mrs. Sino! Happy customer here. Would buy again in a heartbeat.

Do Not Worry About Battery Capacity
As my 3 year old JBL Xtreme was only lasting about an hour and a half after a full charge, this could not stand during the summer grill and chill season. While my other Xtreme was still giving about 15 hours of time, I decided to undertake replacing the battery and found this replacement. After about 30-40 minutes the old battery was removed and the new one replaced. Hint: be sure to use a screwdriver with a magnetic tip, this helps immensely when replacing the screws, and I used a small strip of thin adhesive insulation strip (sticky side to the battery) so the battery will not move or rattle during playback. Now the new battery after a full charge is lasting 15-18 hours with the speaker on full volume and the input volume at 3/4 and higher. So don't worry that this battery is 5000 mAh replacing a 10000 mAh battery because it actually performs longer than the original!

Great!
So, my stock battery was only giving me two hours of low volume time (just two years after purchasing the Extreme - so disappointing!). After some research, I discovered the U tube tutorial to install replacement batteries. The project took about 45 minutes and I'm now getting about 8 hrs run time at mid volume! A few tips. This is a fumbling project, and you should take care when handling the speaker; I dented the dust cap on one of the woofers (no effect on sound, through). Also, be careful to choose the exact phillips screwdriver head (I can't emphasize this enough). The screws are soft and easy to strip. Also, the old battery plugs into a circuit board. I chose to unscrew and pull out the front right facing woofer so I could have direct access to the battery plug underneath (I left the woofer wired during the process). Use some needlenose pliers to pull the plug out of the board. Note: there's no housing which the plug goes into - just pull upward on the whole plug. This also prevents your pliers from sticking to the strong speaker magnet. The tutorial shows a side approach, which I think is more clunky and complicated. Removing the speaker is easier than the right passive radiator. Anyway, carefully and fully reseat the new battery plug. As for putting it back together - carefully align the outer wrapping/mesh. If you don't snap it in correctly, the unit will rattle and buzz when you play tunes. Lastly, when I charged the battery, I made sure to be around to monitor it for anything unusual (burning smells or smoke, etc...) All was fine and took about 6 hours for full charge. Hopefully this battery will give me another few years! Cheers!

A needed replacement
As many JBL Xtreme owners know, the factory battery they used is of "Xtreme" poor quality. (Pardon the pun.) In fact, it should conveniently last you through your warranty period, but not much longer.I recently started having issues where the stock battery would no longer hold a charge. (It continued to work fine while plugged into AC.) After doing some forum reading and discovering many other customers having the same issue, I contacted JBL's customer support. Given this is a known issue, one would hope to get some flexibility when it comes to the warranty. Sadly, no such luck. I was about a year out of warranty and they were only able to offer me a 10% discount for their online store. Appreciated, but unfortunately that didn't help my situation. Finally I decided to bite the bullet and purchased the Cameron Sino replacement for $35. There are slightly less expensive options on eBay, but from lesser known brands, and shipping from China, purchase at your own risk.Installation wasn't as difficult as I feared. Follow a youtube tutorial, take your time, and keep track of your screws. It shouldn't take longer than 30 minutes. Overall I'm very satisfied. I cannot speak of the longevity of this battery, but it certainly seems higher quality than the factory battery JBL decided to "cut costs" on.

Works great.
It last as long as the original if not longer. Seems slightly smaller than the original battery but it works, my only problem is the cord doesn't have the clip to keep it plugged in to the board like it should but it is a tight enough fit that i don't feel as though it will come out without pulling it out. Time will tell.
